I have been working at Kroger full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Can't think of any really as it is retail pharmacy. Kroger doesn't do anything "special" to make them stand out from other retail pharmacy jobs.

    Cons

Over worked with out enough technician help. Technician help is inadequate, always at least 1 tech short and when they start break & lunch rotation...it makes it extremely rough. Its all about millions in Kroger's pocket not about the lil guys running the operations at store level. Unethical HR department, I was fired because my manager didn't like me. No complaints against me, I was always at work, I was always called to come in on my off shifts, other employees requested me; However, my manager didn't like me so I was fired and HR allowed it to happen. That HR team deserves to be replaced... Bad management and Kroger doesn't care because they are going to sell food no matter how bad they treat employees.

    Advice to Management

It all starts at the top and dwindles down. Quit giving such large bonuses to upper management and give something to the people actually running the stores. A pay rate people can live on. Kroger hires in at 40 hours a week then cuts our hours to 11, how can a person live? You want dependability of employees, and in turn, employees need dependability of Kroger, meaning quit the hourly flex, I cannot live on 11 hours of pay a week. Store managers get large bonuses, low man gets nothing. Where is employee incentive. Managers allowed to fire you just because they don't like you, not that you did anything wrong. Worthless people in management positions should have to go. CEO should get out from behind his desk or off of the golf course and meet some of the slime he has in management positons. But, I guess that's the corporate world.

I have been working at Kroger full-time

    Pros

Great social aspect. Employees chill in the break room together

    Cons

Company cares about expansion more than anything else. They pretend to care about their employees but don't care enough

    Advice to Management

INVEST TIME IN SAFETY DEMONSTRATIONS including proper lifting, etc etc

I worked at Kroger (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Small discount on Kroger products.

    Cons

I was excited to go to work for the Kroger on Grand River Novi, MI this month, unfortunately it turned out to be a horror.  The first week I worked 34 hours, when I got my check it was for 26 hours, so I quit.  I still had one more check coming for the 24 hours I worked the 2nd week, that check ended up being for 16 hour, so they shorted me 8 hours again.  I guess they keep their prices low by cheating their employees.  Needless to say, I'll never step inside a Kroger again.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees for all the hours they work.

I have been working at Kroger part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They will LITERALLY hire anyone. At our store we have employees who do not know how to read.

    Cons

The pay is awful. $7.65 is the lowest pay for a grocery store. The training is terrible. I had one 4 hour shift to train before the new store opened. The managment is bad. They hire new cashiers instead of promoting hardworking employees, and the hardworking employees get screwed over because managment doen't promote based on work ethic, they promote based on favorites. I ( Currently a courtesy clerk) am the only bagger who knows what they are doing, and I have to do the work of three courtesy clerks because all the other employees do not do their job and will even walk off in the middle of bagging and leave me to do their work, and the worst part is the management doesn't do anything about it. I WOULD ABSOLUTLY NOT RECOMMEND WORKING AT A KROGER.

    Advice to Management

Promote people based on their work ethic and not on favorites and please do not hire incompetent employees.

I have been working at Kroger part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only good thing about Kroger is their flexible schedule. Everything else is terrible. I wouldn't recommend working here unless you're a teenager or a retired person who is looking for something to spend your time doing.

    Cons

Management thinks only of themselves. They don't care about you unless you're making them look bad. They're quick to blame you for anything.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to care more about the employees and you'll have employees who are more willing to work and have a better attitude
