I have been working at Kroger part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet a diverse group of people. You get to make some money till you find a new job and get some experience.

    Cons

You get taken advantage of by the managers and any of your co workers! No body listens to you and even the union doesn't do their job! There is no point working here!

    Advice to Management

Work with your employees! Everyone is different and has a different life style! Some can't work certain hours but love their job. Management makes it difficult to do our job.

    Pros

    Good coworkers.
    Breaks I suppose

    Cons

    •Management
    •Store Managers
    •Hours
    •Expectations
    •so much more.

    Advice to Management

Actually help people instead of sitting in front of a monitor for 6+ hours a shift. Everyone was so lazy and no work was ever done. I was never really helped and this job was a mess to work at. I will never look at Kroger the same way. People would fight and argue about the stupidest things that rarely involved the customer. People that work there CANNOT mind their own business. It's definitely a seasonal job. DO NOT WORK HERE FULL TIME. The pay is laughable and the work doesn't balance it out. Clicklist absolutely sucks.

I worked at Kroger full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't just say nothing or I can't post this but if I were allowed to leave it blank I would.

    Cons

There is no warmth there! If anyone is above you they will abuse their power. While I was employed there working my first month 5 people quit because they treat workers like trash. Don't be fooled when you get hired, those friendly faces and encouragement won't stay long.

    Advice to Management

    Try to be decent people?

    Pros

If you are desperate and available
    Whenever they want.
Give it a try if you have nothing else.

    Cons

They will not work with your schedule! It doesn't matter if you have experience. Starting pay is barely above minimum wage for Texas . U can't survive unless u have no bills.

    Advice to Management

Hiring practices are limited to only those that are jobless.
You can't ask questions. it is a take it or leave it mentality.
I repeat they will not work with your schedule as a part timer.

I worked at Kroger full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers and I met some really nice customers

    Cons

Not enough upper mobility, Management is too focused on reducing overtime at the cost of workers mental and physical health. Management lets the bad employees hide all shift from customers without consequences while working the good employees like dogs, some unprofessional coworkers

    Advice to Management

Management needs get to know what is happening down at the customer level. They don't come down from their office to talk to employees any more. They only care about overtime. The deli is a health code violation waiting to happen. We were supposed to completely clean the deli slicers every 4 hours and clean them lightly every two hours. I can tell you in my 9 months in the deli I never saw a deep clean of a slicer once except for at the end of the night. I was the cleanest person in the deli making sure my slicer didn't have gross old meat juices on it. Some people NEVER changed their gloves and never wiped their slicer off! I would not trust getting meat from the deli.

I have been working at Kroger part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Union, seniority, favoritism, 401k, medical, dental, vision, slow to few pay raises,

    Cons

Union, seniority, favoritism, cheap insurance, high minimum rate of pay does not equal senior pay scale. Customer is "always" right! No rights for employees in disputes regardless of who started it!

    Advice to Management

An unhappy employee does not make a business function. Your employees on the front line break even with vacation pay every month give you your million dollar bonuses. While we live on ebt, wic and forgo our vacation pay to break even every month. Now we're finding breaks are not allowed/given, our work is becoming the work of four individuals. Customers are allowed to treat us horribly and we have to sit there and take it! In some states minimum wage is so high your senior cashiers are offended to find that your new higher is earning a few dollars less than them. Half the work, half the bad memories, half the sweat. This isn't right.

It should not be favoritism towards male for promotions. I'm female and have tried, tried again to move up the ladder but been denied due to a male stepping into that position. Grocery is still gender bias, race bias and treats women like 1950 style house wives with only high school education at best. Courtesy clerks are highly disrespected and treated like low end paying janitors. Several races view grocery work as no higher than farmers and treat us just the same. We have no rights when dealing with disrespect! Please wake up and move into the 21st century. Your computers should not run on 1970 dos and Windows XP.
