    Pros

Individual contributor treated respectfully by management, understood management's expectations, encouraged to have work-life balance, management tried to incorporate fun at work.

    Cons

Increasingly long hours--around 70 hours a week on salary, i.e., no overtime pay, managing multiple projects deadlines, not enough staff to do our work for an international company. Both of us left the company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees when they're asking for more staff in their workload.

    Pros

Colleagues were very focused on providing clients with best possible outcome. The work was challenging but interesting and gratifying. Pricing was honest and accurate.

    Cons

Company was purchased and is no longer the client oriented organization that it was. Essentially Kroll Ontrack no longer exists. After decades of providing competent services with honest pricing they are now being dismantled step by step.

    Pros

Relationships with teammates throughout the company.

    Cons

Cagey, dishonest management styles. Lack of management qualification and experience with management promotions (Nepotism/Cronyism). Unclear on promotions or opportunities available.

    Advice to Management

Stop commanding people to come to you and GO to where the employees are, not just the "vacation" spots. Need more of a presence to understand the intricacies of each location, domestically and internationally, in order to offer any support/advice.

    Pros

Brilliant technical minds that can solve complex problems, deep intellectual property and many years of experience frequently lead to successful recoveries.

    Cons

Management lacks the vision to capitalize on their greatest assets: people and internal technology. There has been major resistance to change, now there’s too much change at once to navigate a successful transformation.

    Advice to Management

Culture and trust are developed over time. not handed down from management.

    Pros

Used to have some of the smartest people I have ever known.
Great work-life balance, depending on your boss.
    Free pop, coffee, and popcorn.
Used to be a great place to work.
Location is near a lot of Eden Prairie's best restaurants.

    Cons

Hemorrhaging smart brains like water through a storm drain.
Almost a decade of slow financial decline.
New owner is intent on driving away talent, sees employees as costs.
Layoffs every ~6 months for the past three or four years.
Made to train outsourced talent on our jobs; layoffs have almost exclusively been impacting US workers.

    Pros

The people were fantastic, smart, easy to work with, and dedicated to the solution.

    Cons

The direction of the company was in limbo for 3 years before I left between being acquired twice and multiple CEO changes the future was never fully outlined and often scrapped as a whole.

    Advice to Management

Be definitive on what you want the future to look like. Reward those who have the market experience.

I worked at Kroll Ontrack full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Fun work environment with a great team. In my initial department there was a lot of teamwork and cooperation. One of the most successful team environments I had ever worked in.

    Cons

They restructured the department and pushed billing from accounting into the customer service department. This pretty much destroyed the good team environment within the billing department and caused me to look elsewhere for employment. I heard that they later tried to reverse the merger, but the damage was already done. Many employees let due to that ill planed merger.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Just cause it looks go on paper does not mean it makes sense.

I have been working at Kroll Ontrack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pleasant co-workers, free parking, bagels on occasion

    Cons

Recent acquisition by LDiscovery has led to 3% cut in compensation by elimination of holiday pay and 40-hour bonus pay for every 1500 hours worked. LDiscovery has also cut off internet access and Wi-Fi access for reviewers while also trying to impose higher productivity rate expectations on reviewers.

    Advice to Management

LDiscovery bought Kroll in a highly leverage transaction last year but hasn't had the decency to introduce itself to the Eden Prairie review attorneys in person or even by email. If you are going to continue to treat us like Gordon Gecko, we have plenty of other options for work. You are violating one of the most fundamental rules for life on this planet: Treat others like you would like to be treated.
