    Pros

Kroll Ontrack is an amazing company, but has suffered too long from changes in ownership and senior leadership. This has caused a once-strong brand to lose its identity and its way. Kroll Ontrack understands its market and once knew how to innovate, but louder internal voices caused it to take a conformist approach that killed off its greatest differentiators. Time will tell if it can regain its drive to be a leader, and succeed under new ownership.

    Pros include:
-Top-notch employees who work together and care for one another
-Excellent training & mentoring within a role
    -Accessible managers and directors
-Proprietary technology that could again beat the market, if allowed to
    -Comfortable working environment
-Ability to make an impact as an individual

    Cons

    Cons include:
    -Long hours with little predictability
-Little backup support, causing high performers to suffer most
-Internal factions that have eroded morale
-Fear amongst leadership to fail quickly, resulting in failing slowly
-Little trust from senior leaders, so managers and directors lack authority
-Typecasting employees rather than providing growth potential

    Pros

There are lots of very smart people working here, and I think I have been made better at my career because of it. Senior management seems to know the right way to do things. Depending on your superior, work hours are flexible.

    Cons

Due to price compression in the LT market, a series of bad owners only out to make a quick buck, and a few layoffs, the company has been pretty turbulent for the past 5 years.

About half of all software development is done in Poland to save cost, but I would rather see them hire quality here rather than quantity overseas.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring in Poland, turnover is too high over there. To hire premium developers you need to pay premium salaries.

    Pros

The compensation is good, although not enough for the lack of work life balance.

    Cons

The environment is focused solely on profits and the good of the company with no appreciation for the employees.

    Advice to Management

Determine a viable, strategic plan and execute on it, instead of every year changing the focus. Invest in tools and software infrastructure and most of all the people to improve the working environment. Lastly, train your management teams on how to be collaborative, respectful and how to manage people.

    Pros

Leadership team wants to create a good work/life balance for employees remaining after 2 reductions in force in one year. Flexible work environment allowed, and most salary offerings are equal to or above average market rates.

    Cons

Everything is done at the last minute. It seems like it is challenging for leadership to plan ahead. This creates a lot of stress amongst the team, and the need to work long hours to make sure all gets done right and on time.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to plan in advance - money could be saved and stress levels lowered significantly.

Exciting, challenging work in a non-stop environment

    Pros

Incredibly capable employees in all departments and of all talents. Being by such intelligent and driven peers pushes you to be even better too. Flexibility to work from home when needed. Learn a lot. Will pay for RCA exam.

    Cons

Constant executive level management change. There is a lack of communication in organizational strategy. The continued and constant change puts strain on employees requiring them to do more with less. The change in leadership has resulted in an unwelcomed and unwanted change in culture. Lots of talent currently leaving as a result of the new direction the organization is taking.

    Advice to Management

Pick a path, devise a strategy, and stick with it long enough to give the organization a shot at success. Pick a pricing model that works while you're at it. Recognize those who are working with clients whom continue to bring in revenue; not by some nearly impossible to achieve incentive which is weak at best compared to competitors.
