    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Kruse and Muer part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The money is amazing considering no experience is necessary. Schedules are very flexible. Most of the staff is very cooperative and fun to be around.

    Cons

Anyone can get a job here. Management lacks the courage to hold standards for who they hire, as well as to fire people who perform poorly at their job. Additionally, dont expect to have many fridays, saturdays, or holidays off, however, this is to be expected in this industry. Also expect to work late into the night (as late as midnight).

    Advice to Management

Have a more thorough hiring process.

I worked at Kruse and Muer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good food. Fun staff members. Usually pretty busy for lunch and dinner. Easy job no late nights Paid a dollar for employee meals

    Cons

Owner is sooo cheap. Couldn't pay the manager $12 an hour so the manager was a server until 8 pm then switched his shirt and tie and managed for two hours. Pouring house vodka into premium bottles because they ran out of premium bottles for the night. Low pay. Managers made less than the servers Managers worked sometimes 70 hours plus a week no overtime Had to pay for our own k&m shirts and aprons. Was not allowed to %18 large parties

    Advice to Management

Pay the staff Stop being cheap to save a buck or two

I worked at Kruse and Muer (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very cool staff, great to work with.

    Cons

Where to begin. The entire Kruse family are crooks. To the point where they make good people do bad things. I loved the management where I was at, but even he has admitted some of the things he is forced to do were unethical. I've seem them adjust employee hours in an effort to avoid paying overtime. I've also seen, and been the victim of, adjusting employees tips to a higher rate (without consent which is extremely illegal).

The quality of food is also not what the Muer name is known for anymore. Ever since corner cutting Kruse and his children have had a say, they skimp on ingredients that they advertise in their dishes. A prime example is their "saffron cream sauce" which contains zero saffron. And in case someone decides to call them out on it, they have a 10-15 year old canister of it in a little baggie in the back to prove they actually have it. Their chicken is pre-cooked and tough, chewy. Does not match the quality for the price tag they put on it.

They also push their servers, who are paid $2.65 an hour, to hustle these membership cards onto customers. If they don't meet a quota of 4 a month they are subject to suspension or termination.

In addition to all of this, they force their employee's to buy their own uniforms (work shirt and apron). In the time I worked there, they changed their uniforms 6 times to different styles. Buying work shoes and pants etc are obvious, but K&M's shirt and apron? A joke.

Overall it felt disgusting to work there, as the upper management (who do not work in the restaurants) squeeze every penny they can out of their employees and locations. I am extremely happy to rid myself of that company.

    Advice to Management

    Stop ripping your employees off.

I worked at Kruse and Muer part-time

    Pros

Loved the diversity of the work, every day brought a new challenge. Their training program adequately prepared me of the demands of the job.

    Cons

Management is not always helpful, sometimes they make you feel like a pest for coming to them with problems. The restaurant itself was also not organized very well.

    Advice to Management

Devote more time to problem solving. Also design better restaurant layouts that are more conducive to restaurant flow. Finally introduce more modern restaurant managing software, the current system is archaic.

I have been working at Kruse and Muer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Its good money if you on managements good side or are a suck up. Nice atmosphere and friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Management is bi-polar. They disregard those who work hard and sell what they want them to and put those who slack/suck up on a pedestal. Its hard to get a schedule you can work with because of the favoritism showed to the lackluster employees. Plus when they are over on labor they just don't pay you for the hours you work or the overtime you deserve.

    Advice to Management

Stop being moody and start appreciating the people who care. Also should pay people for the hours they work and not just the hours you want to pay them for.
