I worked at Kurt Geiger part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some friendly staff, can build a relationship with some (but keep your eyes out - they are not always trusted as you’ll find out eventually)
50% discount which meant often treating myself with a bag or purse.
Some managers can be lovely! Regional head was really nice to work with and knew about her company.

    Cons

Management often hide in stock room and gossip about staff. They don’t point out the best in their staff but never fail to point out the areas you lack in.
I was the youngest of my team and many other branches, but found myself covering various shifts and doing well over the 16 hours I was contracted to do.
I hardly took sick leave but one shift I missed due to a horrific matter, left me bullied by HR and told I deserve the sack.
You will find a lot of snakes in Kurt Geiger as I learnt from hands on experience.
Pay was always messed up! Every. Single. Month. And HR suddenly disappear as soon as payslips have been sent out
Be prepared - YOUR FEET WILL KILL! As management make you wear horribly painful footwear for up to 8 hours non stop!

    Advice to Management

Inspire your team, I know it can be hard working but your team help in every possible way they can, encourage them and build them!

I worked at Kurt Geiger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff I worked with were all amazing.
    Great in-branch management.
    Good bonus.
    Easy to progress quickly.
    Good discount.

    Cons

Higher level management expect the unacheiveable and don't help towards it.
The bonus is very hard to achieve and once it is achieved (generally only if there is a sale on) it is then raised again.
If you start on a low contracted hours it is very hard to get them raised. I worked 25-35 hours a week on an 8 hour contact. Which means I got minimal holiday and on 1 shoe allowance for 3 months.

    Advice to Management

Work with stores in terms of what they need, not what you think they need.
Focus on the lower level staff as well as the in-branch management. I felt while I worked there I was ignored as a sales assistant when area managers visited.
Give shoe allowance based on hours worked not contract hours.

    Cons

    Seriously understaffed in London

Sometimes they will make you open with one member of staff which is ridiculous
Lots of tasking which is difficult to complete with skeleton staff

    Pros

Lots of personal face to face interaction, both with colleagues and customers, which makes the job enjoyable and not demanding

    Cons

Pressure is imposed not by the nature of the job or the customers but by the senior staff who love to micro manage and create an unpleasant working culture/

    Advice to Management

Managers can fail to see the bigger picture and frequently blame staff for failures to meet targets, rarely considering possible changes to their own practices.
