I have been working at Kwik Trip part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good hiring practices
    Better-than-average compensation for low-level co-workers
    Good benefits
Flexibility with scheduling (may vary depending on which store)
Exceptional upper management in terms of values, commitment, and vision
Uncommon promotion of having a positive attitude and loving your job

    Cons

Fast-paced store environment may be overwhelming at times
Implementation of new products or procedures is usually a hassle, not all employees are in the loop
Tasks may be repetitive and dull
Emphasis on sales and profit can get in the way of customer service

    Advice to Management

Thoroughly test all new procedures before asking stores to change the way they operate. Keep all employees, especially those who work part-time or with occasional schedules, in the know about what they are expected to do when new procedures are implemented.

I have been working at Kwik Trip part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When you work the overnight shift, you get an additional $2 per hour. You're never short on hours, especially if you need them, because every shift (on average) is 8 hours long.

    Cons

Boss can be hit or miss, but how your boss treats the third shift crew will affect how high your stress levels are. If your boss does everything they can to make sure third shift isn't left with doing all the work the other shifts didn't get to: great! But if your boss undermines how busy third shift can get (which can be very busy if it's just you and one other person) and tacks on several additional tasks for you to do on top of the other long list of things you need to get done, your stress levels go through the roof.

The training can also be abysmal. It took me almost a month to learn how to get trained in the kitchen, and even then, I more-or-less had to go into the kitchen blind for that because it was just me and a NEW person on the floor. Very stressful, and very infuriating.

    Advice to Management

Train your third shifters fast, even if it means having a third person on for the night so that everything gets taught. Better to do that than to wait almost a MONTH for your employees to learn their entire job or toss them into the situations blind. The high turnover rate is like that for a reason.

I worked at Kwik Trip part-time

    Pros

    Generous annual bonus
    The owners are fantastic people

    Cons

While it might be different at other stores, the store I work at is extremely stressful. They do not hire enough people and expect you to do the work of 2 people. They are very unrealistic of how you are able to work with all of the customers and also get the entire list of "chores" done in one shift. It is so bad there were about 8 people who quit in 6 weeks.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. Do not make coming to work a very unpleasant experience for staff.
