    Pros

Weekends off. If you like to move around and work this a good job. Good benefits. There are certain locations that pay more for having to carry up or down stairs, but not all. This seems to be at manager discretion and should be standardized.

    Cons

Inadequate pay for the drivers and helpers. Since you RARELY, if never, get a bonus or a tip, this should be a minimum hourly pay of $15 for warehouse, $17 or $18 for driver, and $15 to $16 for helper. Very insufficient training. You're expected to figure out most things on your own or learn from other helpers and drivers. Expectations can be unrealistic on the job of how long it can take to offload 30,000 lbs and place materials throughout jobsite with only 2 people. Days can be upwards of 15/16 hours without any prior notice. Inadequate home time and rest makes for grouchy workers!

    Advice to Management

Sooooo many little things you can do to make the workplace better. Your laborers and drivers (and warehousemen) work EXTREMELY hard and put up with a lot of guff from management. Rather than show up and just fly by the seat of your pants, have a quick 5-10 min meeting before people go flying in 10 different directions. THANK your people for their hard work. Make a more stable schedule. Pay bonuses for having to carry thousands of lbs up or down stairs. A little more friendliness, some perks, and advising your employees of what they will be doing each day before it happens will guarantee you some more longevity out of your workers.
