I worked at L Brands full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay was good for that time period, but I do believe low for the market. I left in 2010. Limited Brands offers the best in training, and they are far beyond their time in technology. I do not see this magnitude of investment in other industries today. You could make this job be exactly what you wanted it to be for you. I was blessed to be in a great Region with great leaders. You were rewarded well for performing well. I have received several trips, awesome gratis, and have won fantastic promotions and contests. Bonuses were available to stores that performed well. I have very fond memories from my tenure with this company. I love and will always remember how this brand stood behind their employees when Katrina hit. I have never seen an outpour like that. They took care of us and empowered us to do what was needed for our teams.

    Cons

Work life balance did not exist. Hours can be extremely long during certain times of the year, but again, this is the nature of the beast of this industry. I especially did not like how things changed towards the end of my tenure, it seemed as though more was expected for holidays and floor sets, and certain event. The focus on the family was lost. It was almost as if you had to kill yourself leading up to Christmas, get a few hours off, and then prepare for the SAS. That's not right nor fair to the employees. I didn't like having to pull them away from their families for holidays to change the floor or move things around.

    Advice to Management

You are a great brand, but consider your people more. Offer more to give those that serve you a better life. People will spend regardless because you do offer great products. I think that you have a great system in place, just make it better for your employees.

I have been working at L Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great Employee Discount
    Health/ Financial Benefits
    Work-Life Balance

    Cons

    Poor/Inexperienced Management
    Hierarchical Leadership
    Mismanaged Resources

    Advice to Management

"People do not leave great organizations, they leave poor management." Listen to your people, seek understanding if you do not fully understand, do not shy away from asking questions when you need clarity. Utilize your resources. This company also has a habit of bringing on contractors with no intentions of hiring full-time - I've seen great candidates with experience, excluded from positions they were qualified for.

    Pros

Depending on your title, the travel can be nice.
There are some good eggs amongst the department.
Benefits are a plus and the corporate activities.

    Cons

    Honesty is a big issue.
    Collaboration is very weak.
    Support is nonexistent.
The type of job that will put you on antidepressants or antianxiety medication.
Love of hierarchy instead of team.
    Ridicule and mean girl behavior.
The environment depending on your department.
I would not deem this particular Branch of LBrands a great place to work.
A weak and unsupportive human resource team.
They do not reflect the LBrands values and corporate culture.

    Advice to Management

you need to invest in strong leaders. Your associates are the backbone of the company and they need to be treated as such.
