Pros

Overall the company is a leader in the retail industry and does many things very well. The store level leadership is strong and talented as are the senior leaders within the organization.

Cons

There is almost no work/life balance. While this normally would not be an issue for me the company tends to go out of the way to talk about work/life balance and then do nothing to back up the words. They are relatively generous with the amount of paid time off the allot their associates but it then give them a hard time when you try and take it. The issue lies within the middle managers, not the senior leadership. They need to either improve this culture or just stop talking about the work/life balance issue all together.

Good work and life balance to complete the day to day workload. Good people in general, most of them are young and fun. Perks from quarterly meetings, and occasional free samples as rewards from the company. Summer Fridays allows you to get your doctor visits and personal errands done. Good company discount. Stable job environment.

Cons

Lack of mentoring and guidance, getting too dead end on process. You work like a puppet being pulled in different meetings. All the decision made are too safe, lack of creativity and newness. The company has hierarchy. Team work is not correctly utilized. limited growing opportunities and little recognition since your superiors would be getting most of them. In a way, work hard in the given job tasks is not enough to get promoted. The company only recognize 4 national holidays, and most of them are in the later year. No sick days either, it would have to be taken out as PTO or schedule in the early morning or late afternoon. Promotion takes a long time.

Pros

The overall business knowledge that you develop over time is unmatched in retail. A planner is responsible for the overall gammet of the business and the knowledge learned valuable throughout your career

The work life balance is very uneven and is getting worse in the current fincial climate

Good health benefits and great opportunities to learn on the job

Cons

They talk up work life balance but then don’t help to support a good work life balance. Technology is not competitive and normally slow to spend money in this area.
