Great learning opportunities, terrible hours
Jul 14, 2021 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Smart people, interesting projects, steep learning curve
Cons
Terrible hours, lack of culture
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Steep learning curve, talented colleagues, interesting projects (only high end strategy work or commercial due diligence on behalf of leading PE firms)
Cons
Since our projects are relatively short, they tend to be fairly intense, so the hours can be tough. As a first year associate you may end up calling a lot if you are on CDDs

Interesting work and great colleagues
Oct 20, 2015 - ConsultantRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very steep learning curve from immediate management responsibility and short case lengths. Extremely smart, nice and supportive colleagues, which creates a great office culture. Due to the higher number of cases you work in a given year relative to other consulting firms, you get exposure to a lot of different industries and business models in a short amount of time. Extremely low travel compared to other consulting firms, which can be a pro or con depending on what you're looking for.
Cons
Variability of hours makes it difficult to schedule weekday plans. Shorter case lengths lend themselves to long hours.

Challenging growth environment with smart, fun colleagues
Nov 3, 2015 - Engagement Manager in New York, NYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
L.E.K. focuses on strategic consulting engagements, which in turn contributes to shorter projects, less travel, and more time spent in the office compared to other Consulting firms. This leads to a strong in-office culture that makes L.E.K. an enjoyable place to work. The learning curve is steep, but L.E.K. provides a strong Professional Development program to help colleagues navigate the learning curve.
Cons
Like other Consulting / client services firms, predictability can be difficult on some projects. However, the firm has made strides towards improving work / life balance significantly
