    I worked at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-13.75 base pay, more if you get >2 surveys/shift
    -4.5 hour shifts
    -No experience needed, start immediately
-In summer, you can work a LOT more
-fun little bonus games (for scratch offs/cash) for getting surveys
-you pick your own shifts (there are three shift blocks in a day to choose from)
-ideal job to get in and make quick money for a month or so then get out

    Cons

-You are calling people who mostly do NOT want your call. People are constantly annoyed by your call, and usually one call per shift involves the person screaming at you angrily- :(
-Must work at least 3 shifts per week
    -Somewhat mind numbing
    -Stressful
-There is little meaning or significance to your job, again you're mostly calling people who either hang up (half the time) or say no.
-It was too emotionally difficult for me to have all these people upset with me for calling, not worth the money to me.

    I worked at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Easy to get Hired
Paid by the hour, not by commission
Flexible Scheduling (especially for college students)

    Cons

The job itself is one of the most unpleasant things I have ever experienced. You are given some headphones and a speaker, placed in front of a computer, and forced to cold call various business constantly. You have to ask them to fill out an investment survey, and you're forced to stick to a very basic script. It is very hard to be successful. I was actually fired after three straight shifts of not being able to get a survey filled out. Needless to say, there was much rejoicing that night.

There is definitely something wrong with the system that fetches these business's phone numbers. Several times, I called asking for people who were DEAD. More than a few told me I was breaking the law by calling them, since they were on a Do-Not-Call list. It would not surprise me if these people were breaking the law intentionally. It repulses me that they're allowed to promote themselves at USF every semester.

    Advice to Management

Businesses like this really shouldn't exist. But we all have to make a living somehow. I do have to thank them for reminding me why I'm in college in the first place-to avoid jobs like this.

    I worked at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time

    Pros

Honestly the only pros I can think of would be that while I works there the hourly wage wasn't bad plus commission but all that good was completely overshadowed by them shutting down and refusing to pay me

    Cons

Was told they were shutting down over holidays due to being understaffed. I never received my last 3 pay checks and could not get ahold of anyone because they closed down without telling anyone!

    Advice to Management

You all should be ashamed of yourselves for treating your employees like this. I have gotten the labor board involved in this case and you will pay!

    Pros

Really good pay, 13.50 is the base & with commission I've been able to have 22.00 per hour for getting a large number of leads. Free snacks & coffee on breaks, mostly all usf and usf alumni working there. Super casual environment & managers are always willing to help you out

    Cons

After playing some games (for getting surveys) management sometimes forget to pay you the money you deserved for them.. Have to remind them they owe you which can be awkward..
Can be too loud which makes it difficult for people on the other line of the phone to hear you so everyone just ends up screaming.

    Advice to Management

Turn down the music, remember our deserved money

I have been working at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You make your own schedules to fit your personal needs, and the base pay is way above average for part time employees. Management also provides bonus opportunities to help supplement your paychecks. Shift leaders also provide direct feedback and coaching to struggling employees.

    Cons

Often deal with very rude customers, and can be very difficult to complete the expected amount of surveys per shift.

    Advice to Management

Be more lenient on the amount of required weekend shifts. I know this is intended to ensure you are properly staffed, but with some students schedules this requirement can be a heavy burden.

I have been working at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is the highest paying part-time job in the area. Management is courteous and helpful, pay is excellent, hours are flexible as the employee creates their schedule.

    Cons

Little room for climbing the ladder as this is a small company. Cold calling is not for the feint of heart.

    Advice to Management

Direct deposit would be nice, seeing more of upper management would make the work environment more comfortable.

    I worked at L & J Bay Area Holdings part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The only pro at this job is the same as in any other job which is getting a paycheck.

    Cons

Horrible work enviroment, loud music and game playing while you are on the phone trying to get people to take surveys. People were pissed when they were being called at dinner time and rude ect. Management encourages u to chane ur name when you talk on the phone to a made up name bc somehow changing ur name will make the ah on the other line take a survey? Lol anyways they let me go bc i had low leads or a less than average required surveys a week i dont recomend this job to anyone unless you like pain and suffering outside your bedroom.

    Advice to Management

Get a new job and when you let someone go do so proffesional maner.

    Pros

    Starting pay is above average.

If you're desperate than this might be better than entering the porn industry.

    Cons

Participating in a company whose "F" rating from the BBB is really well deserved. (Read report on why government fined this company $85,000 for alledged violations of federal law; search Better Business Bureau's report on L & J Bay Area Holdings)
