I have been working at L3 Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great atmosphere. Management cares about their employees and they're good with recognition.

    Cons

Depending on your work area, potential for growth is extremely limited at the current time. Reason for that is there are many employees that are older but still have many years until retirement.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for, they are always trying to help their employees with training or what ever is necessary to accelerate in the company.

    Cons

Large company and easy to get lost in the numbers. Training is done on large scale and sometimes hard to get the full education,

    Advice to Management

Remember your only as good as your team. If your team isn't trained completely it's a great time to retrain and make sure all bases are covered.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is one of the best places to work in the Waco area salary-wise

    Cons

Leadership changes, but your growth will always be a matter of who you golf with rather than how well you perform. Some people bounce around in L-3 and you have to wonder what they are still doing there after they've botched programs, read magazines all day, and generally made it to where they are based on zero merit. It makes working hard and respecting your superiors incredible challenging.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at who's working hard rather than who's following you around as your latest yes-man.

I have been working at L3 Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, time off (sick leave and vacation), work-life balance is in check, pay is high for the area and there are some exceptionally smart folks

    Cons

Cross functional training is discouraged (you must remain in a position for at least a year), groups are very segregated, leading to an atmosphere that is very "throw it over the wall".

    Advice to Management

Reduce the year minimum to move around internally and set up a program that encourages cross functional training. Everyone would be better off for it.

    Pros

Company treats people professionally and is world - class. You won't easily find a better employer.

    Cons

L-3 has had to lay off a lot of people lately due to market conditions and the pains of growing too quickly.

    Advice to Management

Do what the founders would do that are no longer there. Don't give in to MBAs and hedge funds.

    Pros

Great staff and admins that provide a fun and hard working work environment. Time off policies are fair,

    Cons

the upper level management can be very intimidating and as most defense contracting companies, think of numbers more than people.

    Pros

    Work from home a plus

    Cons

The industry has taken a big hit and with it there are a lot of Reductions In Force taking place. Do more with less!

    Pros

Good benefits, great co-workers, would work for them again!

    Cons

I have none other than the weather sinks in TX. The building would flood at times.

    Advice to Management

Some employees in TX should refrain from being super religious at work and putting religious stuff all over their cubes.

I have been working at L3 Technologies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, competitive pay, nice co-workers

    Cons

Management, motivation, growth, innovation, everything is printed on paper

    Advice to Management

This company is OLD SCHOOL! They want you to come in sit down and shut up. Don't ever tell a manager you have a new idea or they will think you are trying to show them up and they will shut you down or get rid of you.

If you just want to show up work your shift and go home with little stress, this job is for you. Trust me watching the clock just waiting to go home makes for a LONG DAY!

  10. "Decent company to work for. Needs process improvement and management communications."

    Pros

Interesting products and knowledgeable people throughout the organization.

    Cons

There is very poor time management in the finance department and there is a lot of room for improvement in their processes. Multiple sources of financial data conflict with each other, producing variances when reporting financials. In the past months there have been massive layoffs which were conducted in a very unprofessional way and without giving proper notice to employees. This affected remaining employee morale as most ceased to care about the quality of their work and were just waiting for the "ax to fall".

    Advice to Management

Provide opportunities for employee advancement and growth. Reconsider how layoffs are managed, treat employees with respect and provide the opportunity for relocation when possible.
