I worked at L3 Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Management is clueless and you can do absolutely nothing and BS them. The majority of folks do their side gigs 100% of the time on the job.

    Cons

This place is racist and nepotistic. The likelihood of you getting laid off is high, unless you are one of the mistresses, son, cousin, etc of the senior management.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Lots of very good, talented people at the site level who strive for excellence in all areas.

    Cons

This is a holding company specializing in manufacturing. Senior management is removed from daily operations and culture.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time for more than a year

    Pros

9/80 work week, location, very difficult to get fired especially if you are a protected class older female, work not too demanding, communication with peers is non-existent unless you accidentilly P someone off.

    Cons

A pretend environment - At this company you pretend almost everything. You are required to spend significant time watching training videos teaching ethics and respect for fellow employees and then everyone pretends that a manager isn't the enforcer constantly berating and belittling subordinates in direct view of so-called ethics officers (what a joke). An enforcer is used to get quotas done as the senior managment knows very little about operations management. The engineering department pretends they are working on new technology but in reality most of it is 20 year old obsolete operating systems software and hardware. The engineering management pretend they have a clue about the technology but in reality most of the senior management are placed based on political alliances and few have any technical or professional skills. The king of pretend - pretends to have your back and even encourages you to take on the politically messy tasks that they are afraid to touch and then when someone gets their toes stepped on they stand with them asking "what in the world were you doing?" And don't forget the pretend the older females in this organization that don't actually perform any meaningful tasks because they cannot get fired and they can be very ornery if you ask them to do any real work.

    I worked at L3 Technologies

    Pros

It's a good place to start a career. You can develop the necessary skills allowing you to move on.

    Cons

HR, Senior Management, and supervisors frequently put people on disability after an illness instead of accommodating them. Promotions are given out using the "buddy" system. Education or length of service play no factor.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Truly, the local office was like family, many teammates became life long friends. Great benefits. Very little micro-managing. People cared about each other, not much back stabbing.

    Cons

Difficult to reach/engage senior management. HQ office was cut throat, had high turnover, especially among internal support groups. Too many applications and logins, many having redundant functions.

    I worked at L3 Technologies full-time

    Pros

Great employees, the employees are hard working and eager to do their job correctly for the most part.

    Cons

Senior management and executive team does not treat anyone with professional respect. Even if a person is failing, the management will allow that person to fail even if it results in damage to the financial or reputation of the organization. Too many prior military officers hired into positions they have no skills for.

I worked at L3 Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Compensation was reasonable. Products produced are interesting, high technology and provide a real service to our military to help them succeed. Really enjoyed (and now miss) the 9/80 work schedule.

    Cons

The work atmosphere is probably one of the worst I've encountered in my career. There was a real divide between the senior management and the rest of the organization. Rather than working as a team to ensure success and obtain the best solution to issues, it was more of an "us and them" environment. Senior leadership was always looking to push blame to lower level management, even though many times their decisions/direction drove the outcome. Rarely celebrated successes of the employees, but always focused on the negatives. Just simply not a pleasant environment to work in. Out of several jobs in my career, this is the first one I've left due to simple dislike. It's a shame because there are a lot of good, talented people working there, but morale is extremely low.
