Great place to work, military veteran friendly.
May 26, 2023 - Systems Integration and Test Engineer in Palm Bay, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
This is my first job as an engineer after graduating college. The job is not very difficult and they are very patient with new hires. I can ask questions and people are happy to share their knowledge with me. There are also very good benefits.
Cons
There is not very good training material on how to do my job, so most of my learning is me having to ask other people which can make me feel like a bother to people who seem busy. I don't always feel very challenged at work and it can seem boring.

Flexible workplace, awesome people
May 30, 2023 - Systems EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Employees are given a lot of flexibility with their work schedules. Most of the technology L3Harris develops is complex/interesting. Employees have lots of opportunity for internal job movement and are typically given a say in which projects and teams they work on.
Cons
Upward mobility / salary growth can be slow for experienced employees

Good company to work for
May 31, 2023 - Systems Engineer in Clifton, NJRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people are awesome to work with and I genuinely enjoy coming into work. The work is interesting, although can be slow from time to time. Lots of opportunities to try new things, move around, and build your resume.
Cons
Very difficult to move up the company latter. Internal salary bumps don’t match the market rate, so basically the longer you stay the further below the market average you become.

Terrible culture
May 24, 2023 - Systems Engineer in Palm Bay, FLRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
unlimited sick time and 3 weeks PTO
Cons
The company culture here is terrible. Young engineers are constantly mistreated and criticized. Older engineers and management have a hard time delegating work and the average raise is lower than at other Defense contractors. No annual bonus as well. There are barely any mid level engineers at this company. Most employees are either 55+ years old or they are college grads who stay with the company about 2 years and then leave. There is also not a lot of diversity in the workplace.

Overall best place I've worked
Feb 6, 2023 - Information Systems Security EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
All these are based on my division unless specified. - cares about employees - good work/life balance - excellent pto policy - plenty of employee events
Cons
-promotions/raises favor external applicants due to corporate raise policies even when changing positions (e.g. external candidate offered position at $90K, where internal transfer between departments may be soft capped at $80K if coming from a lower paying position). - merit/cost of living raise doesn't keep up with inflation - cost of training and lack of knowledge retention severely underestimated when considering employee turn-over. More likely to re-hire than fight to keep current workers. - it's software development, so group dynamics can be a bit strange sometimes (more "comes with the territory" than an org issue). - health insurance is all but useless
