I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Free Gym Membership
-Great atmosphere for a people person or a person into health and wellness.
-I make more base pay than sales counselors and commission is very rewarding and easy to get if you don't mind calling people.

    Cons

-Working with sales team can be crazy. Often untrained and unprofessional. Counselors would curse in front of guests, even had one curse AT a guest which is awkward either way because the guest always looks at me like I should be saying something.

-Not a very strenuous job so people think they can just call off whenever, even the day before, leaving you to pick up their shift. More money but would rather not feel obligated to take your shift.

-Management structure is very strange. Don't know who I should be reporting to half the time.

    Advice to Management

Grow a pair and fire sales counselors who clearly cannot perform

I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Get to meet new people everyday and as well as networking. You are given a chance to make good money from commission. There is a lot of free time at night which is great if you are a student. I get the chance to study for my classes while at work.

    Cons

Stupid rules. Must answer the phone in a certain way. No guest passes after 8pm. Stupid things but doable.

I have been working at LA Fitness (UK) full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A shared vision, with a strong culture that runs throughout. If it works for the individual, the culture and ethos are fantastic to be involved in

    Cons

Very few. It is exceptionally fast paced, so the recruit needs to fit in with the companies way of working. Generally good.

    Advice to Management

Reward need not always be cash, spend time on personal acknowledgement and written well dones. More detail in terms of developmental training and mentoring.

    Pros

The best thing about working here is the members. They are all lovely and I have regulars coming to my classes every single week.
I'm paid the correct amount and on the right date every month (this is often an issue with freelance work)

    Cons

The in house staff don't seem too happy with the way things are run, I'm not sure about details though.
My current site has been fine, but I worked for a different one for a short while and they were very slow paying me and I was often underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Look after your in house staff and listen to their feedback.

    Pros

They offer flexible hours and provide the environment for fast growth opportunities. Fitness based environment great place to work while still going to school.

    Cons

Low pay for entry level positions and commission based. The managers push you hard everyday to meet quotas, and also base job security off commission numbers as any sales job would.

    Advice to Management

Work closer with staff to reach goals.

    Cons

Its slow at the beginning and if youre looking for full time you might be working upwards of 30 hours for free during your first couple months.

    Advice to Management

    Higher pay rate.
