I have been working at LANXESS US full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Treat employees fairly, pay and benefits are good for the area, flexible when it comes to work-life balance.

    Cons

Very siloed business units and group functions, few opportunities for growth in the US, too many directives and strategic decisions come from HQ (Germany), plant mentality can be very old-school and makes it hard to implement changes.

I worked at LANXESS US as an intern

    Pros

Very well paid. It was nice to work with people who had a lot of knowledge in the field and were very willing to help someone with the learning curve. The team I worked with was all very kind to me and very helpful.

    Cons

If you're a creative type, working for a chemical company is simply boring.

    Advice to Management

    None

I worked at LANXESS US as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great understanding from Management on work-life balance. Co-workers are like your second family and easy to get along with. Time-off was a little different because it's a German-based company some of your usual holidays aren't recognized. Lots of opportunities to grow within the company and many locations to possible work from.

    Cons

Compensation could use some work, but otherwise a pleasant company to be a part of.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Good salary, good benefits, depending on work you may get to have some independent say but more so just with day to day activities you can work it out yourself

    Cons

Lots of meetings, management all over the place in terms of personal & professional personality type, very much focused on education so if you are anything but PhD you won't get anywhere, not much in the way of personal development, a bit too much micro management from some

    Advice to Management

Work together, be on the same page, do what is best for the company not for personal benefits, listen to employees

    Pros

Varied international and professional career routes to adapt to employee skills and interest
    Ideas encouraged and listened to
Great long-tenure collegues with wide experience and deep company roots
Respect for family and health priorities

    Cons

Increasingly centralized and bureaucratic cya decision making process
Some issues with delegation of authority

    Advice to Management

Don't lose the strength and agility of the many businesses and sites through too much central HQ "expertise" redoing local work.
