I worked at LBP Manufacturing Inc full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Met some great people and developed a few life long friendships.

    Cons

All of the other reviews about the "haves and the have nots" couldn't be more true. This company has been base on favoritism for all of the 10 years that I worked there. People have been promoted into positions that they have no business in and are allowed to remain just because they are part of the "inner circle". When you have managers that run their departments from behind their desk by e-mail instead of coming out and actually interacting with the employees in their department, something is not right. And they are allowed to get away with it? I guess that is why all of the good people that used to work there have either left or are in the process of finding other employment. ( you know who they are ). No one that I talk to in this industry has anything good to say about this company. They laugh at me when I tell them where I used to work. It is embarrassing to the the point where I just don't even mention it.

    Advice to Management

Start over. Get rid of ALL of your Plant and Department managers who have been covering for each other and lying to Upper Management for years. Mr. Pritsker, this company could really be something great if you would just take out the trash.

I have been working at LBP Manufacturing Inc full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are not many Pro's with this company. But they do have a strong outlook.

    Cons

    Numerous:
    LOW PAY
    EMPLOYEES FEEL OVERWORKED
    EXTENDED HOURS FOR SALARY EMPLOYEES
HR knows some managers are unprofessional but do nothing about it. HR has even said to me that "you know who you are talking about, we all know he is not professional"

    Advice to Management

Value your employees more. Pay them at the minimum fair market value.

    "Needs better mid level managers"

I worked at LBP Manufacturing Inc full-time

    Pros

LBP is growing their capabilities and has finally started to focus on "the right" customers. The new management is trying to make a difference by increasing capabilities and product offering.

    Cons

Although the new management is bringing in top level people, there are still managers that do not know how to manage or mentor their teams. They do not recognize individuals capabilities and do not take advantage of the knowledge and experience that could be brought to the team. There is no mentoring to help individuals grow and reach the next level.

    Advice to Management

Take a careful look and the mid level management team. Observe how the team is growing in their capabilities and performance. Provide training to the managers so they can lead their teams more successfully.

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism people that have been there for years will move up.

    Pros

Great people to work with and some of the best technically I've encountered. Company should continue to grow with new owner in place.

    Cons

Company still somewhat in flux due to recent ownership change. Would expect this to be ironed out soon. Good management in place to insure it happens.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and continue to focus on value driven propositions. Continue to invest in programs to continually improve in OEE and safety improvements.

    Pros

LBP has a great culture where employees are valued and appreciated. It is a great place to go to work everyday and has been for three years. I would absolutely recommend LBP as a great place to work.

    Cons

Commute could always be better but it is centrally located outside of downtown Chicago near expressway and public transportation.

    Advice to Management

Continue to develop your employees and build a great place to work.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at LBP Manufacturing Inc (More than a year)

    Pros

Customer focused and looked more at the longer term in building relationships and business. Ability to make decisions for the good of the business

    Cons

Too few customers make up too much of the business. Need more of a strategic focus and point of difference vs. competitor. Offer better services vs. lowest price.

    Advice to Management

Look at current talent and develop key people for key roles. Need to spend time making sure people are in the correct roles.

    Pros

    There really wasn't any pros

    Cons

Top Management would have other employees spy on you rather than admit their own short comings Joan

    Advice to Management

Hire people in important positions that know what they are doing and can actually multitask if needed
