I have been working at LCE full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

CEO makes it a point to introduce himself to every employee. Treated well by management and is low stress compared to other larger companies that do similiar work..

    Cons

Pay is a little low compared to similiar positions in govt/larger companies and there's little opportunity to advance.

I worked at LCE full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for! Locally-owned, locally-managed. Great employees! Great office environment! Focused on employee health and work-life balance! I can't say enough great things! When I left, I felt as though I was leaving family.

    Cons

Not enough opportunities internally to keep IT personnel gainfully employed when the current gig ends. If there were other opportunities, I'd still be there today.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing and keep developing business at every opportunity. I wouldn't change anything.

I have been working at LCE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Voted as one of the best companies in SC year after year. Privately held company with employees sharing ownership through ESOP. This company cares about its employees.

    Cons

Sometimes loyal to employees to a fault. Small company, hard to move up.

    Advice to Management

As nice as someone is, poor performers have to be let go at some point.

I worked at LCE full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Supportive staff, company-paid cell phone, company-provided laptop, 401(k) match, ESOP, large leave carryover (twice yearly accrual, so 160, 240, or 320 hours), sick leave

    Cons

Disorganized internally, doesn't apply own advice given to clients, a bit of a good-ol-boys club at the higher levels, treats you like family until it's more convenient to shut you out

    Advice to Management

Figure out what your product is - what you do well - and market that. Stop giving into clients and selling impossible promises for deliverables. It cheapens the quality of the product and tarnishes the brand.

2 weeks vacation and 1 week sick starting
Flexible work schedule (can work 4 10's, 4 9's and 8 as long as you get 80 hours in for 2 weeks)

    Cons

You are never in view of your direct supervisor (at client site) therefore the evaluations can be biased.
Health Insurance could be better cost/benefit wise
Government work environment and your are a contractor

    Advice to Management

    Need to have mentoring program
    Stagnant Growth
    Better Educational Assistance

    Pros

Great people to work with and company sponsored events celebrating achievements as well as opportunities to interact with co-workers outside of the office.

    Cons

Questionable ethical practices (employees falsifying qualifications to obtain designations, etc.). Questionable management practices.

    Advice to Management

Limit favoritism and ensure competent people are in management

I worked at LCE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

-Company encourages education, training, professional development
-Safety conscious. Will purchase any all PPE and supplies needed for a job/project
-Managers are professional, respectful, and approachable. Upper management communicates with the workers and listens to it's employees.
-A family feel from the top management to your direct supervisor . CEO and President make it a habit of speaking to employees and letting them know what is going on in the company
-Employees feel like they are part of a team
-Company puts together company functions that allow employees to get to know each other and the management
-GREAT PAY! Bonuses! And Pay raises (based on performance not on nepotism)
    -Incredible medical/dental benefits
    -401k match
    -Employee Stock Options
-Most importantly employees are treated with respect

    Cons

    -Nothing

I worked there 10 years and I always felt like I had the best job in the world. But if I had to name one drawback it would be that the company has contracts that may or may not be renewed and that can add a little bit of uncertainty. But then again, no job is 100% guaranteed

    Advice to Management

Thank you for the 10 great years. Keep up the great work.

Consider expanding to other sectors other than government contracts so that the company can retain employees when those contracts don't get renewed.
