    Pros

Large organization, still on growth mode. Exciting place to work for.
A lot of positive changes happening and already been changing toward the right direction.

    Cons

Not an easy place to get used to, high Korean population with that Korean traditional corporate culture well alive. Systems are mess due to alignment with HQ.

I have been working at LG Electronics USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent health benefits, particularly for families; very good opportunities to learn/develop career skills but only because company is understaffed and foreign management is usually unaware of U.S. business developments

    Cons

No career advancement unless you are Korean or Korean-American who speaks fluent Korean; cultural bias so pervasive that the company is a class action ticking time bomb; heavy top down micro management directly from Korea with many decisions made that make no sense in American culture; pay that is slightly below market; many Korean managers do not speak English well so they will assign most critical work only to other Korean language speakers; lack of cooperation among various departments that are only concerned about their parochial interests at expense of greater company goals.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the Foreign Service Employee rotation system. Hire best local talent and provide REAL opportunities for advancement. LG manufactures very good product however the company will remain "2nd (or 3rd) tier" in U.S. markets until management realizes that they cannot operate the company as a " little Korea business" located in the U.S.

I have been working at LG Electronics USA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

LG offers some of the best healthcare benefits in the US.
LG has great products that effectively solve customer technology needs.
    LG offers effective base pay

    Cons

    There are some cultural challenges.
LG is a very demanding place.
Systems are not always up to Best Practice Standards

    Advice to Management

Be open to using outside systems (SAP, Salesforce, etc.) to improve processes.

I have been working at LG Electronics USA full-time

    Pros

100% Paid Heathcare and a brand new plant.

    Cons

Micromanagers, disorganzied, ZERO training, believe you should be a mind reader, they don't trust Americans, they expect you to work your life away (no work/life balance at all), promise flexibility but its a lie, and have ZERO regard for safety it's only about the money! Also, we talk about a culture blend and how we should be one culture but yet all I see is the Korean culture and we are just expected to conform.

    Advice to Management

Care a little more about your employees. Don't always look to take. Build a give and take relationship. Stop micromanaging so much and trust your employees can do the job they were hired to do. Provide actual on-the-job training and not a useless trip to Korea where everything is just a headache.

I worked at LG Electronics USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    + Fully covered benefits
    + Competitive compensation
    + Huge Staff Discount
    + Discounted Lunch

    Cons

    - A lot of institutional limitations. Everything is a process to get done.
    - HQ in Korea has a TON of saying in the day to day actions of the US offices
    - Dated office environment
    - Out of date equipment and software
    - Some large egos
    - Huge preference towards those that are Korean bilingual
    - Work life balance

    Advice to Management

It's just such a dated company in terms of values, resources, and culture. From the way they treat employees to the web portal to book conference rooms, everything is archaic. For a technology company, everything beside the little show room in the lobby is drab, boring, and behind the times. They are working on a brand new building, but it keeps getting delayed. I doubt that will address the awful biased culture.

I have been working at LG Electronics USA full-time

    Pros

Benefits: the only good thing out of this company is the medical benefit.

    Cons

    1. Salary: Extremely low when compared to nearby competitor. About 40% lower. When the responsibilities increases, the salary remains same.
And HR confirmed that "increase of your R&R isn't a good reason for salary negotiation."
    2. Culture: "if your hair is black, you shouldn't leave at 5pm sharp" verbatim. Work environment is very different for Korean Americans. They are under different standard in addition to low pay grade.
    3. Politics: due to one too many expats, who are tenured for a specific time period, achieving a long term goal is down right impossible. All they care is what happens during the tenure only.
    4. Layoffs - rather than improving the bad system, impractical process and procedures, LG prefers layoffs. When it causes reduced overhead cost, they think it was a good strategic decision. Several layoffs less than a decade.
    5. Systems: they never heard of localization. Everything is made for "global use" which completely disregards localization. While trying to fit all types business into global system, the end results are systems that doesn't work for anyone, but HQ maybe.

    Advice to Management

    Reduce the number of Expats.
