I worked at LKQ full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Friendly and relaxed work environment with a focus on learning in most departments. Strong management in leadership in some, but not all departments.

    Cons

Poor compensation: to include salary, PTO holidays and benefits packages. Promises not kept by upper management regarding better work/home balance and a lack of accountability for "dinosaur" management.

    Advice to Management

Improvement in the above areas will increase retention of faithful and knowledgeable senior employees.

I worked at LKQ full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are none. There are red flags all around us.
Even temps don't want to work here, now that is bad.
They actually have someone that reads these reviews and it does no good. They make no changes.

    Cons

Not one location is fully staffed. They push the work load off on the employees they do have instead of hiring the correct amount of people to do the job. Forget being compensated for it. They cut the Sales Managers pay by 20%, they also took away commission for the sales route drivers and then re-created a pay structure screwing the employee. And they wonder why they can't keep people.
LKQ has some of the highest ratings for being one of the worse places to work.
You will under paid and over worked and given other peoples work loads.
HR works for the Employer not the Employee. So if you get hurt while your at work and file a workman comp claim, you will mist likely be fired for some off the wall excuse.
We currently have a D rating on the BBB. Not enough check it out for yourself.
They try to cover things up because they are owned by share holders and not an individual person. So if something happens they try to take care of it before it leaks out. They don't want people cashing in their shares, they would fold.

    Advice to Management

It's not the location managers that need the advice. It is the upper management that needs advice. Also there are red flags all around. When you have six people get up and walk out that is a sign. When you start having managers leave that have been with a company for 15 plus years some more then that. That is a sign.
Something is going on, inside the company that they don't want their employees to know about or share holders to find out about. But I assure you people are getting out now while they still can. It a revised version of the Titanic, only this time some people actually knew what was going to happen before it did.
So if you don't want to sink with the ship get off now.

I worked at LKQ full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great team spirit led by a manager that invests wholeheartedly into the growth of not only the plant but the individuals that work there.

    Cons

Lack of upward mobility or growth within region. Lack of care beyond our individual plant management. Raises given to very very small percentage of employees each year, some not for 5+ years.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees, they will end up giving more back to the company. Give raises to everyone, cost of living keeps going up. Especially if your facility is profitable. Do more to keep tenured employees that bring value to company, ask questions- why are they leaving dissatisfied after so many years to go to another job ??
