Good Place for self efficient manager

Jan 5, 2021 - Store Manager in Albany, CA

      Pros

The pay is great if you hit metrics, the fast paced environment and problems that arise do present a great challenge that can translate to any life skill to overcome, and the store to store team is dedicated to one another so there is a sense of community.

      Cons

There is a disconnect from management above the store level to the managers in presenting meetings during a day when there is a store to be ran, do not take the job if you can not adapt quickly.

      Pros

Company offers 13 days PTO and a floating holiday (they do not roll over into the next year), a good employee discount for flooring, and extensive product knowledge. There are also chances to move up within company.

      Cons

You do not receive any weekends off, sale weeks you are expected to work 6-7 days of the week, you are expected to do warehouse duties and duties upfront in showroom and on computer, must make 20+ robo calls every day, and the regional manager borderline harasses you over your sales and calls every day. You must meet certain sales goals even though you do not get commission.

      Poor conditions of life

Jun 23, 2021 - Store Manager in Nashville, TN

      Business Outlook

      Pros

If you like working alone, this is the place for you.

      Cons

A full crew is a ghost crew and because the pay is so poor compared to the work load, no one lasts. They can flip fries for the same pay if not more. The store is constantly understaffed, multiple balls will be dropped on a daily basis. Take your pick of what you want to fall apart. Your customer service will lack because there's not enough people to answer the phone, assist customers in the store, load out customers, respond to emails, build quotes, etc. You will be the only person there AND be expected to do all that PLUS all the other necessities of the day to day. Your boss, no matter what level you're at, will consistently be driving you to deliver more, even though there's only one person staffing the store for 51 of the 72 operating hours. Oh you want a lunch break? Ha! The company does absolutely nothing to rectify the situation or assist. Hopefully you've built relationships with local stores, because it's up to you to get them to help, if they can because they're short staffed too. You will be working open to close multiple days a week, again, by yourself. Two different people working different locations both have developed heart conditions because of the stress placed on them. Run away as fast as you can.

      Pros

-Inspired to get better over time -Trying their best to become the best -Many great benefits, everything to a no-cost health insurance to even pet insurance.

      Cons

-Heavy emphasis on sales with not much reward for going above and beyond -The RMs like to pit all the stores in the region against each other, rather than every store working together for the betterment of the company as a whole.

      Pros

Fantastic vacation benefits, gaining a week of vacation for every year you're with the company up to 5 weeks. And benefits overall are cheap, but give good coverage.

      Cons

Management wants you to be a salesman, but wants to pay you a retail wage, it's a head-scratcher as to how little they pay all of their employees, yet my region in particular has always beaten plan.
