I worked at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefit package is one of the best around.
Health insurance, dental, vision, vacation, 401K.
Salary employees have flex time opportunities.

    Cons

    Total chaos in production areas.
Lack of accountability in all areas.
Lack of communication at all levels.
More work without addition of help, elimination of positions.

Every time someone leaves their work is given to someone else vs. replacing them? At what point are you going to HELP those remaining so they don't BURN OUT and abandon ship?

    Setting up everyone for failure....

At this rate you will continue to lose people at great impact to the company

    Advice to Management

Listen to your work force. Listen to your customers. Frustrations are high, patience are thin. Mistakes are being made at great expense to the company and impact to our customers. Never has the company looked this bad.

Look around and see what your employees are doing. They are jumping off like the passengers on the Titanic. Great concern by many if the company can even be turned around.

Wondering, was the current CEO brought in to run us down and get us sold off?

Close divisions when we were going strong....

Is the Sonaca purchase too little to late?

Selling LMI as a whole for less than half of what we paid for the acquisition of the Valent company...how does this make sense with all the capex we have spent? With the increased SOW? With all the divisions? Shouldn't we be worth MORE than what we paid for our last acquisition?

Seems false promises / information given to keep us on board many months/years ago.

We will not be a billion dollar company on our own....we are being bought and that will combine us into being / becoming one. White lies hurt too!

I worked at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great bunch of personable experienced engineers. Good working conditions. Parking fine. competitive rates and salary. Flexible working schedule and easy going management.

    Cons

LMI management at head quarters are clueless on how to run the engineering side of the business. Their failure to fully grasp the requirements of a design-build contracts pretty much ran the engineering side of the business into the ground

    Advice to Management

My advice to the LMI upper echelon management is to stick to what you know best. Consult with engineers on that aspect of the business and limit your perceived expertise to production.

I worked at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - The physical work environment is good.
    - The benefits package is competitive.
    - Vacation policy is generous.

    Cons

    - Weak leadership.
    - There's a perception that the new management group is a tight little club, and 99% of the employees don't belong to it.
    - Compensation is mediocre, but not good enough to make it worth staying.
    - Company's financial health has declined in recent years.
    - Lots of turnover at all levels in past year or two.
    - LMI used to be involved in the community under the old management. This seems to have stopped under the new management.

    Advice to Management

There are many of you who have come over in the last couple of years. By ignoring the inputs of those who have been around longer, you are missing out on lots of valuable knowledge and talent. You need their perspective, especially since you have not found the path to success without them so far.

I worked at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Free bagels every Friday morning.

    Cons

Did not maintain a working relationship with Boeing (who provided much of the work)
Management is not capable of obtaining new business. Unsure if it is lack of experience, ineptitude, or brashness
Employees ending a task are uncertain to what the next assignment will be

I have been working at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is growing and there are always new challenges to overcome. It is a great opportunity to showcase my skills as will add to learn new ones along the way.

    Cons

Due to the growth, everyone has to be flexible in order to make sure everything is addressed in a timely manner.

    Advice to Management

Better and more timely communication is critical to long term success. Recognition of employees and /or departments that go above and beyond the normal call of duty would go a long way.

I worked at LMI Aerospace full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Career advancement opportunities, growing company. Working culture among peers is good as it builds on team work. Pay incentive with quarterly bonuses is a great motivator.

    Cons

Living in the St Louis area was a bit challenging due to the snowy winters especially coming from the west coast. Of course spring time brought the bad storms and many tornado warnings. The weather is the only con, of course that is subjective to an individual.
