    Pros

The work is steady. The days go by very fast because there is always more work than can be done in a day and you are constantly rushing to keep up. The work is very fast paced, but honest hard work.

    Cons

2 general managers I worked with had no clue and allowed the management staff to do almost nothing. They were not held accountable and not required to get involved making it difficult for department supervisors to succeed. The teamwork between departments is so bad they work against each other

    Advice to Management

You need to get the managers engaged with the business. They need to have assigned responsibilities and be held accountable to contribute. Help is needed in all production areas and there are enough managers to get involved and solve problems.

    Pros

If you want experience in working with industrialized cooking equipment and seeing how cater for large amounts of people, great.

    Cons

Lack of support and training in Des Plaines, Illinois hot food Department. Contradicting chefs, racism is very much alive and hostile. Also they do not follow Federal food regulations well which is a liability and you get retaliated against if you speak out on it.
Nepotism is contagious with x Gate Gourmet employees from the chefs to the drivers. HIGH TURN OVERS AND UNFAIR LABOR PRACTICES.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring management , supervisors, chefs, cooks, hr administration that were Gate Gourmet employees. Bad structure is contagious and a liability.

    Pros

Well this is very easy job and some times peaceful place to work and they have a decent cafeteria and it's not far from freeway

    Cons

Well the cons are that it is a bit far depending on where your driving from and the pay is very low and you only get a $0.20 raise every 30 days

    Advice to Management

Don't really have much to say to the management because they were very kind and understanding they just need to meet with the higher ups and negotiate better pay

    Pros

The only good thing was the free lunch everyday and that is a well known company worldwide, unfortunately, the Guam location taints the name.

    Cons

Terrible workplace culture. Management does not listen to employees, and there is alot of nepotism. Many of the staff are underqualified for the positions but since they are somehow related, they were hired. Pay is incredibly low, barely above minimum wage for a position that deserves 2x the pay. Overtime is required including late nights and weekends. Parking is terrible and you might have to park far across the street in a very unsafe neighborhood.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. There are employee satisfaction surveys that were taken, read the employee complaints. Not everyone is dispensable. Hire qualified employees and treat them with respect.

    Pros

competitive salary and benefits if you're a supervisor or higher up, but thats about it.

    Cons

for a catering company the "free" lunch is hugely disappointing, but then again it's airline food. you don't have a choice on your vacation days; you are obligated to sign up for them in order of seniority at the start of the fiscal year, so forget planning any get aways when you want to, and be prepared to be stretched very thin when someone does take their vacation because they won't plan ahead for it and will pile the work onto you instead and question why nothing gets done. middle management (this position) takes a beating from upper management and expects you to make something out of nothing. its very frustrating and exhausting.

    Advice to Management

better communication and acknowledging a job well done goes a LONG WAY. the small people are the ones that keep this business afloat.

    Pros

Food is good, when they make it...don't have to worry about forgetting your lunch. NO OTHER PROS

    Cons

Management will take credit for everything...even if they didn't fix the situation, they will take the credit for it. Were requiring...not asking us to work 14 hours a day 7 days a week. If you get burnt out and need a day off, you get punished for it...maybe even written up.

    Advice to Management

Hire both Supervisors and assistants or driver leads...that way Supervisors can run the office and assistants/leads can help with loading and unloading of trucks. If the Supers are doing that constantly, how can they properly keep track of inbound and outbound flights...no wonder you have so many delays.
