I worked at LSI Industries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Allow people to advance and promote from within. Public company with good benefits package for full time employees. Work type is varied and everyday will have new challenges and opportunities.

    Cons

Office is in Houston and lots of construction on the highway system, so travel to and from work can be stressful and difficult.

    Advice to Management

Management at the Houston office is excellent. Corporate in Ohio management should allow the other offices more control over their own day to day operations.

    Cons

Closed our Kansas City KS location. Did not try to help us out. Told us we we're on our own.

    Pros

    Steady work
    Average vacation time
    Discounted insect extermination services
    Plenty of overtime available
Three full shifts to pick from
    Diverse workplace

    Cons

    Where to even begin.
They bring in temps at a higher pay rate than long-time employees, because they underpay so badly they can't even get inexperienced temps otherwise.
    Incredibly high turnover rate.
    Rampant theft in building.
    Recurring bedbug infestations.
Pattern of negligence about sexual harassment claims.
Sales department over-sells production capability, resulting in physically impossible deadlines, which leads to lost customers and constant mandatory overtime.
Complete lack of communication between sales and production floor.
Unappreciative CEO and upper management, dismissive of employee concerns.
Problems are never resolved, even when brought to managements attentions several times.
Non-existent HR. The sole HR person is absent nearly half the time, and HR duties such as employee orientation, answering benefits questions, payroll, etc. get dumped onto low-level supervisors and team leads.
For a commercial lighting company, they have embarrassingly dysfunctional parking lot lighting.

    Advice to Management

Take an active interest in your employees.
Make inventory supply kits on time, before Thursday and Friday, because that guarantees they won't get finished before weekend overtime becomes necessary.

I have been working at LSI Industries full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I do not see any at this time and this is sad to say.

    Cons

We come in everyday and give 100%. However, it is not enough nor is it appreciated. On top of it all, I see good managers and above leaving LSI. It seems like the upper management team are robots and they only see one direction and that is that of the CEO. Upper management presents a united front and if someone does not coincide with that direction, they are gone. Isn't this sad that loyalty and hard-work does not matter any more at LSI.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the upper management team and replace with humans and not robots.

    Pros

At first good but then they wanted me to by $600.00/$14500 dollars of tools to work on there equipment. Never have I ever agreed to that

    Cons

Business was badly slow and doesn't hold up to agreement

I have been working at LSI Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

LSI continues to be very diverse company with manufacturing as well as new opportunities in commodity based markets. Most important is that LSI gives opportunity for employees within to change positions with in company and work on projects that are challenging but very rewarding. Unlike other larger public traded companies, where you have to apply for another role, LSI has open door policy where you can express your desire to do something different and bring value to the company. Great team of people works at this company as well, even with disagreements at times, LSI has core employees that can carry the weight as well as figure out ways to work together to bring results. Good place to be especially for someone starting out or mid way into career. A lot of new things going on and opportunity is there to learn and implement projects.

    Cons

Don't have any at this time or at least not anything that stands out that is different from any other similar public traded companies. Departments need to work better together vs trying to complete with each other.

    Advice to Management

continue to implement new and exiting product lines; however, slow down with options and standardize products in order to achieve best supply chain results. We don't have to chase after bigger competition companies, lets just be LSI Brand and focus on green customer friendly LED lighting.

I worked at LSI Industries full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The salary was fairly decent as long as HR keeps a staff long enough to get the payroll done correctly. They do offer a bonus.

    Cons

I worked for LSI for under a year. My first impression was a lasting one. As the saying goes" It starts at the top!" Sadly, my experience was not a pleasant one. I worked in the accounting department. My supervisor took on too much and my co-workers pretty much ran the department. I was informed before I was hired permanent by the company's receptionist that race discrimination was an issue there, and I learned PERSONALLY that is indeed a FACT. I would never recommend anyone to work there, and I would DEFINITELY NEVER EVER go back

    Advice to Management

Become more involved! Evaluate your employees. Get to the root cause of the company's low morale and high turnover.
