La Petite Academy, learning every step of the way.

The best reasons to work for La Petite Academy are because 1. reduced tuition if you have children, 2. it has a wonderful curriculum that truly enhances childrens knowledge, and 3. because you get to influence the lives of children and watch them grow.
Cons
Some of the downsides of working for La Petite Academy include that the pay is low for the amount of work and dedication that must be put into the day to day activities and interactions with the children. In addition, the company does not give very significant annual raises to its employees.

Cons
Not enough pay for the amount of work

Pros
Consistent hours Working with kids every day.
Cons
Pay is nowhere near enough for the amount of work you are required to do. Responsible for cleaning everything in the classroom as well as any public area and every bathroom. Never leave on time. The student to teacher ratio is too high. Management not as involved or as helpful as they need to be. (maybe this was just at my center) but, no student was ever suspended or kicked out no matter the number of disruptive/aggressive offenses.

The children are great. Most of the families I work with are very cooperative. I truly enjoyed working there for the first few months.

It's alright but the pay is poor
Oct 13, 2016 - Teaching AssistantRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The kids can be great, fun environment, always interesting. There's a lot of times where I'm glad to be there.
Cons
High turn-over rate so you don't really get close to other employees. The pay is really poor for the amount of work you do. Some kids are absolute nightmares, but I guess that's to be expected. There used to be a requirement where your kid had to be potty trained to be in the preschool class, but that's not the case anymore and it puts a big strain on the current employees.

The only pro is that I have gained much more experience with working with the younger age groups since my background has always been with the older
Cons
the 'drama' of working with a bunch of women the pay isn't the greatest for the amount of work you have to do

Pros
The teacher to student ratio is good.
Cons
No school janitors!! The teachers are expected to not only wrangle the babies all day (to include switching babies to different classrooms to stay in ratio) they are also expected to do extensive lesson plans, AND display lesson plans on the classroom walls every week, AND sanitize the classrooms everyday after ther shift. The cleaning includes bleaching the toys and every surface, washing babies cups (if the parents demand one stays at the school), vacuuming, and moping. Let me go into the cup cleaning....To keep them sanitized in this germ ridden environment the teacher has to go to the kitchen and do a 3 step process to sanitize the cup or cups. RIDICULOUS. Not that the kids don't deserve clean cups, but the teachers should not have to do this job. They expect an enormous amount of work for extremely little pay. I have a BA and an MA with experience teaching children 3 and up...however since I had no degree specifically in early childhood ed my pay was 8.75. I took the job only to fill the gap while searching for a real career job with a salary...which thank god I found shortly after starting. Also, I fell sick 6 times while working all of 2 1/2 months there....my doctor bills were more than I got paid. I will never subject my kids to such a daycare environment.
