Learned A LOT working there
Nov 11, 2022 - Teacher in Aurora, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
You will fall in love with the kids very quickly. They're super sweet and while they can misbehave, they're not bad kids. Families are all super pleasant and very appreciative of everything you do for their children. There are also some really good people working there who are great to learn from and be around.
Cons
Management can be very immature and toxic, creating an almost high school like environment with drama and gossip. Ratios can be at times just flat out ridiculous. If working with School Age, there are times where you will have 20+ children BY YOURSELF and management really doesn't care. At times, it seems like management just wants to make money and isn't as concerned about the kids as they are profit and bringing in the dollars.
Thank you for the review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed working with the children and families at your center. A strong network of peers, school leadership and corporate support all contribute to providing a positive environment for our school-based employees. We’re sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the level of support you received from upper management. Thank you again for sharing your perspective.

La Petite Academy, learning every step of the way.

The best reasons to work for La Petite Academy are because 1. reduced tuition if you have children, 2. it has a wonderful curriculum that truly enhances childrens knowledge, and 3. because you get to influence the lives of children and watch them grow.
Cons
Some of the downsides of working for La Petite Academy include that the pay is low for the amount of work and dedication that must be put into the day to day activities and interactions with the children. In addition, the company does not give very significant annual raises to its employees.

Pros
Working with children and dealing with parents directly, you get an opportunity to see how you make a large impact on their lives
Cons
Management are paperwork driven and bonus driven so never available to help with teaching or children. - pay is low - scheduling is highly variable and inconvenient (12 hour shift with random 2 hour breaks) - childcare discounts but no rights as a parent - hypocritical director (told us to leave out personal lives at the door... But called out of work for issues with boyfriend and daughter, stormed through center if having a bad day, talked about staff - regional level managers play favorites - if they didn't like someone, they were set up or pushed out
