    Neutral Outlook

I worked at La Trobe University

    Pros

La Trobe has a well-deserved reputation as social justice university - lots of focus on the underdog in teaching and research

    Cons

Years of tight budgets, management by bean counters, micro-management, over-work, few middle managerst/Associate Professor level people

    Advice to Management

Stop the micro-management and ridiculous reporting requirements, invest in your junior and lower level academic staff, if you cut staff, then cut enrolments.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at La Trobe University full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Staff are friendly and welcoming and campus environment is beautiful,.

    Cons

Lots of turnover, particular in the University wide senior leadership team.

    Advice to Management

Managers need to have better access to budgets and financial reporting systems. Managers should be given appropriate financial delegation to make decisions such as approving basic expenditure. There are far too many levels of approval with most processes. This is inefficient and a waste of staff resources.

I have been working at La Trobe University full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Close to home. Childcare facilities on campus (at a cost).

    Cons

Outside the CBD makes networking difficult. Processes are too manual, and building facilities are poor.

    Advice to Management

Need to look at staff facilities and not just students.
