I worked at LaBarge full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Technology: Today businesses who have embraced technology have gained a competitive advantage in the market, technology can improve efficiency. If it automates its production line and installs temperature sensors and cooling facilities, it will deliver quality products in time. These temperature censors can be programmed so that they send information to the operator and they find out when the room temperature drops or increases. This saves the operator of the bakery time and risks

    Cons

The use of automated systems will mean that manual labor will be cut down which is a benefit to the business owner. But this will leave many people who would have done this task jobless. Also small can’t afford this technology will be left out because deploying these automated temperature sensors might be expensive for small businesses. Which means they will not be in position to compete which might also led to the collapse of the business and it will again result into loss of Jobs.

    Advice to Management

change to a technical manager that supports the new product risk required when getting into new tech. abandon old tech and convert

    Pros

You won't ever get fired if your attendance is good. You don't have to be good at your job to stay here...especially the office support/management.

    Cons

No one cares about productivity...or accuracy. Not even a little bit. If your give a care is broken, this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue....from the top down, if you expect the best, then you get the best....if you don't expect anything...then you are at Ducommun.

    Pros

Management cared about employees on a personal level. Always took time to communicate company status to employees. Never kept employees guessing. As a contract supplier, the business landscape was always changing, yet management found time to convey all details to its' workforce.

    Cons

Wage scale was low in comparison to similar company in area. LaBarge was known for hiring people who were out of work for long periods of time at bargain basement wages.

    Advice to Management

Look at internal staff to fulfill key positions. Going outside for new talent isn't always the best choice, albeit necessary at times.
