    Cons

very politcal, lots of movement, unstable management, need to define roles more often and give people more exposure to senior management.

    Advice to Management

Better job of retaining employees, more growth opportunities, cross-training of employees and training for certain positions.

    Pros

One of the best specialist firms to have worked for in the early 2000
Compensation was good, benefits were paid for
    paid lunches
laid back atmosphere when not busy

    Cons

talents not immediately recognized when due
higher management knew less then peers under them
    politics as always
then you make them a lot of money, they are your best friend, when you have a losing, you get the lions face
bonuses were not faily compensated when your numbers were great

    Advice to Management

too late for them now, Labranche was on the block, should have listened to your specialists whom made you a lot of money and compensated more on their bonus.
Mike Labranche was always a gentleman to me, that I have to say. Thanks for the opportunity

    Pros

LaBranche is a small company which makes it a good place for self-motivated people to work. There are lots of opportunities to become involved but you have to stand up to take the chances. The road from being a clerk to becoming a Specialist is much faster now and doesn't take several years. If you are good and can make money management will let you trade.

    Cons

LaBranche is a small company which means that you will be doing more work here than at other larger companies but for less pay. Being a small company it also has small trouble attracting and retaining top talent.

    Advice to Management

    Don't forget about the people.

    Pros

Get out of work at 4:15 each day. Every day is a new day. Free lunch every day. Camaraderie on the floor is still strong, but LAB has nothing to do with that. Most of the employees that are left are pretty good guys, except management.

    Cons

Management is completely incompetent. The absolute worst traders we've ever had are all in charge now, demonstrating their lack of ability every day. Second-guessing and micromanaging are their only two cards, and they play them continuously.

    Advice to Management

Please, please quit and/or sell this company to a firm with a vision and some skilled leaders. We are facing a difficult environment (to say the least) and you are not equipped to lead us to victory. The NYSE will still be here in 5 tears, but LAB will survive in its current iteration.

I have been working at LaBranche & Co full-time

    Pros

worked with some of the greatest talents, great benefits such as free lunch, healthcare and 401K.

    Cons

Upper management when you get to this level with second guess you when things are not going their way.

    Advice to Management

Leave your talented people to do their job, believe me they are paid to do a great job. Promote those who are loyal, stop hiring outsider to promote as it leaves a bad taste with the person up in line of succession.
