I have been working at LaFrance as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

LaFrance is very laid back. There is basically no dress code and you can periodically get up and talk to your each other. Everyone there is nice and cool and the higher ups are all great people.

    Cons

Not much room to move up. Starting pay is on the lower side of "average". Little training structure. Have to go to China for 4-5weeks about once a year.

    Advice to Management

Inputting a better training service would be nice. There isn't a whole lot of structure to that area. Other than that it's a pretty great place to work.

I worked at LaFrance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Casual dress, nice work environment, established policies, family owned, managed with the long term in mind, opportunities to grow and develop if you want them and work hard.

    Cons

Lots of travel which may or may not be a good thing, hard to break through to an upper management position due to flat organization

    Advice to Management

Don't let slackers or poor performers stay. It's ok to fire someone for poor performance & who's bringing down moral

  5. "A nice laidback place to work, as long as you don't mind the below average pay."

    Pros

Its a very laid back work environment. They generally accept projects to be completed whenever they are completed, with no real deadlines breathing down your neck. The company has a diverse group of employees, with the majority of entry level positions filled by recent college graduates. Somewhat flexible hours, it is not unusual for the CEO to call a half day when there is a special event going on on that day i.e. (major sports team playing during work hours).

    Cons

Some of the managers hired are either very anal with their employees or are incompetent at their job.The pay is below average in all positions across the board.

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at the under performing employees and managers, and replace them with someone that actually takes pride in their work.

-frequent travel (if that is not your thing)
-low to mid grade pay compare to industry std
    -high turn over rate

    Advice to Management

I have been working at LaFrance full-time

    Pros

Casual atmosphere and relatively low stress work environment. In addition to the official benefits, also have some small perks: quarterly luncheons, free half days before holidays, long lunch on Fridays.

    Cons

Top Management team can often be out of touch with issues that face employees. Weak IT department. Not enough focus on technological advancement.

    Advice to Management

Be more open to change... Technologically and structurally. Get a better feel for employee morale. Hire more staff... The additional labor capacity will allow more time for collaborative work and creativity.
