I worked at LaRosa's full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The general manager Michelle was the best. She just recently left the company and noone can fill her shoes. The teamwork is great and everyone is so friendly.

    Cons

Wouldn't make much money, sometimes the late diners would hang out for over an hour past closing, had to wash, sort, and rewash silverware.

    Advice to Management

    None. Michelle was great.

Great Staff and team as a whole.

I have been working at LaRosa's full-time for less than a year

    Pros

You're taken care of at work. One of few restaurants that will feed you for free as long as you ask. If you're a hard worker, managers will work with you on scheduling and flexibility. The company shows appreciation for their employees in many ways as well. The servers typically work well together as a team, and even work well with managers on proper times to make cuts.

    Cons

Patience is definitely a virtue here, especially with the predominantly teenage cooks. Income as a server is inconsistent, as business is very up and down depending on the location and clientele. Staffing is inconsistent some days too; one day you're understaffed, and the next day it's overstaffed.

    Advice to Management

The way you staff and structure servers needs updating. Decide on a system (rotation, sections, etc) and stick with it. Work with your employees, yes, but be consistent.

    I worked at LaRosa's part-time

    Pros

Good employees and ok help is what you get from larosa's. Friendly environment at all times. Very strict on rules and impressions.

    Cons

The management plays favors. They treat some like gold and others like dirt anymore. We are there to work not make friends.

    Advice to Management

There are good and bad bosses but its just not right to be like that. Equal oppertunity has been long forgotten and so has "give respect to get respect."

I worked at LaRosa's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The menu is very easy to remember. The opportunity is there to make pretty good money. On the weekends, I would walk out with $100. You don't have to tip out the host so every part of the tip goes to you. You get a free meal every shift.

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism. Managers will make some people do all sidework and some will let their favorite employees get by without doing some. There is TONS of sidework. Typical drama between servers. Also, many of the cooks in the kitchen are younger high school people so theyre not really concerned with getting the food out as quickly as possible. A lot of goofing off in the kitchen that got real old real... quick. One more thing, don't expect all your schedule requests to be fulfilled. And they are picky about calling off, I was in a car accident and they "needed proof"

I worked at LaRosa's part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Made good tips and had good hours here. It is a great job and i really enjoyed working there. They always had a very good crowd during lunch.

    Cons

It is not a big enough pay check to live off of. Another con is that you don't have a choice to work early morning,. The earliest you normally work at 11 a.m. the earliest.

    Advice to Management

I do not really have any advice for them but just to keep it up.

    I worked at LaRosa's

    Pros

    - Hiring Process was fast and easy - Friday nights (especially during high school football season) = tables all filled meaning great tips - Friends worked there while I did - Mostly all easy tasks that can be completed pretty quickly

    Cons

    - SO UNORGANIZED!!! - Schedule for each week was hand written, barely legible, and it was almost always posted a day before the work week started over. - That “food smell” on your clothes and in your hair after leaving that never really went away until I stopped working there (no matter what I tried to fix it with for both clothes and hair it just always lingered) - To request days off in advance you had to go to... the restaurant and hand write the days and reasons then put them on this clipboard which was another unorganized aspect that was just annoying; and half of the time the scheduler(s) didn’t even try to make the schedule fitting for you. - All together, not a hard job (unless you have hard to deal with tables you’re serving), but also not a job you can really count on; both weekly as well as on more “permanent” basis like a couple years or so, it is not a reliable job and you will want a new job before you know it most likely.

    Advice to Management

    - Try to actually become organized so that the employees can do the job they were hired for; its near impossible to be able to work when you put the schedule up either 1 day before it starts or sometimes even putting it up the day of. That would help solve any problems of being short staffed for really no reason except laziness. - Maybe allow your employees to access online accounts so that they can track their... schedule, hours worked, and money earned because then the employees would have solid evidence of their earnings, which would take away the HUGE problem of not being paid the correct amount (for almost every single paycheck too…). - Hopefully the management has stepped it up and fixed these things because they made everything so much harder than it should be and most employees can’t keep up with a business set up like that. - Also, make sure you don’t hire every single applicant so the you don’t end up with a staff that is way too big where most people working don’t care or do anything while on the clock; instead actually at least try and use good judgment when hiring or actually firing people who do nothing.
