I worked at LaSalle University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very friendly coworkers. Clear and flexible power dynamics. The university let me try out new things and take on responsibilities that I created for myself. They let you make your job and work with students unlike any other university. For example, I worked with faculty, staff, and students to help maintain and facilitate a community garden on campus. The dedication of faculty and their outwardness to staff is great, and is emblematic of the kind of culture that La Salle has.

    Cons

Like any university, its hard to move up the ladder without going to another college. La Salle, nevertheless, is a great stepping stone for a budding career. For the university or student affairs professional, the abundance of colleges in the area makes La Salle and the surrounding community a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Focus on retaining and keeping staff and students. Offer more benefits and career movement opportunities for dedicated staff and faculty who really believe in La Salle's culture and values.

    Pros

Good community feel. Team environment for older employees, not as much for new.

    Cons

Be prepared for last minute requests and unorganized leadership. Lack of process. Be ready to work extra hours if you're middle management.

I worked at LaSalle University (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of time off with flexible hours in the summer. Friendly atmosphere. Tuition remission.

    Cons

Low pay with very little room for growth given the financial situation. For a catholic university, this place is very immoral. They have made many benefit cuts and have let go or outsourced low paid employees to "save money" from their > 10mil debt crisis yet continue to bend over backwards for their higher end employees (even if they get tossed, they are still left with a VERY nice severance package). There is no organization amongst the departments. Each department does whatever they want. Lack of communication between all departments therefore money is lost and employees/ students get frustrated. I am not only a former employee but I am an alumni. If I knew how this placed works before I went there, I would have never wanted to attend there nor will I ever send my children or for that fact "my DOG" there.

    Advice to Management

Take a deeper look at those who bust butts to keep this place going and stop favoring those higher ups who DO NOTHING. The tech department is horrible.

    Pros

Great time off! Friendly community like atmosphere! Tuition remission and exchange; Great new president

    Cons

    Will probably take away benefits slowly; Low pay for middle employees with no raise in sight. New hires in management are not great leaders;

I worked at LaSalle University (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Academic, professional and cordial atmosphere.

    Cons

Lack of budget resources for new initiatives, innovation and updating of processes and infrastructure. A downturn in enrollment necessitated cuts of at least 29 professional administrative staff. Early retirement was also initiated, which many people took advantage of. Costs continue to rise and short term enrollment projections are not positive.

    Advice to Management

Develop and endowment for capital and human resource improvement. Develop a more concrete strategic vision and plan for both infrastructure and capital improvement for the university with deliverable targets or measures.

I have been working at LaSalle University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Working in athletics provides outside of the job perks (sporting events, apparel, etc).
    -excellent benefits
    -good people
-a good stepping stone to a higher-level athletic program

    Cons

-long hours and many weekends and nights
    -low compensation
-lack of synergy between different departments
    -facilities are not the best

    Advice to Management

They could improve from more synergy between university departments. A more collaborative effort would do wonders for their future and student and fan experience at the school

I have been working at LaSalle University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is always something different to work on and something new that comes your way. Therefore, very seldom get "bored"...good community...fits well into schedule

    Cons

The internet is very sketchy which makes it somewhat difficult to do work at times...outdated office space makes it feel some trapped.

    Advice to Management

Could keep up with employees and check in more often

    Pros

Amazing environment with help ready to help. As a part time worker I was compensated for any additional work done over what was accepted.

    Cons

Nothing bad to say I love the environment and the students

    Advice to Management

Keep it going and hire more fulltime people.
