    Pros

In my 17 years at Lafarge, I enjoyed being a part of a great team that will always remain as one of the best experiences, both professionally and personally. As a part of the great team that I was blessed with, it was great to watch the company's IT organization develop and mature. We worked many long hours but were well rewarded for our efforts.

    Cons

The merger with Holcim changed the company culture. I successfully managed IT issues and projects at the Chicago office, traveling there when needed. The new Holcim culture required that I move to Chicago permanently. My family has multiple children in school so moving was not an option for me.

    Advice to Management

Embrace the great team building methodologies that Lafarge used. Be sure to recognize the efforts of those that really strive for excellence. This is part of how you keep great talent.
