I worked at Lafarge full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very dynamic, challenging atmosphere. Vast resources are amassed in terms of knowledge and tools to operate. Good pay. Very health and safety concerned environment.

    Cons

Old boys club type of core organization. It is really hard to tap into those enormous amounts of experience accumulated as it is kept inside an inner circle. Once you reach that circle further experience sharing almost stops. Sometimes it is even hard to get any new contractor or business service provider in just because it does not belong to a group of trusted providers.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk. Strategy and values are declared, but not always followed with instances of decisions complete contradicting the official course of action.

I have been working at Lafarge full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Under the right management, Lafarge was a great company that assisted their employees in growing into their role and as people.
The projects were interesting and taught employees a lot on the business processes as well as IT standards.

    Cons

The Holcim merger will hopefully provide as good management and interesting projects considering their lack of use of technology.

    Advice to Management

Advice to new management: Lafarge employees are loyal. Please respect the knowledge that has been learned as it became experience.
