I have been working at Lafayette College full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, decent salary, co-workers with similar interests. Opportunity to work with bright students and colleagues.

    Cons

parking can be tight, some offices are staffed by people who have been there for 30 years - tough to make inroads leading to positive change.

    Pros

People seem to impressed when you say you work there

    Cons

Current administration values money over education. Zero sense of family or loyalty to long-time employees.

I have been working at Lafayette College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, especially the possibility of free tuition for your kids at Lafayette or one of the other TE schools. That alone is worth a mint. Great health plan. Great 401K.

    Cons

Low salaries and dead-end positions. For administrative employees, there's not a lot of mobility.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Lafayette College full-time

    Pros

Beautiful campus, good people, important mission, good retirement benefits, excellent benefits if you have a child who is going to attend college after you have been there five years.

    Cons

The office politics and group decision making make for a challenging environment at times. There is little room for growth after the associate director level.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of meetings. Pay close attention to middle management, set deadlines for decision-making so that projects can be completed on time.

I have been working at Lafayette College full-time

    Pros

Fantastic academics, personalized classes, and intimate access to resources and faculty

    Cons

College life typically confined to the hill, heavy Greek life bias

I worked at Lafayette College part-time

    Pros

You can thrive and find many different on-campus jobs. You can even coordinate with professors to build a workflow and get small income through work study. There are some practical skills that can be learned and applied to real-world experiences.

    Cons

There's a cap on the work-study wages because work-study is basically for those who need to make some type of income to pay off college expenses. You can only but so much. It only becomes a lot when you take advantage of the on-campus opportunities (i.e. RA, research assistant, etc) that could help cover some of your college expenses.

I have been working at Lafayette College part-time

    Pros

    Enhances new skills
Wonderful way to meet new students
    Very easy

    Cons

Very low pay, all jobs on campus are paid the same

    Advice to Management

The fact that all student jobs get the same pay I believe does not reflect the necessary skills required for some of these jobs and should be changed.
