Reviews about "certified"
Return to all Reviews- 2.0Jun 28, 2019Substitute TeacherFormer Employee, more than 10 years
Pros
Learned experience, worked in the past as a para, and subbed before.
Cons
Less pay if you are certified, but cannot get teaching certificate because you are not hired as a permanent teacher. Therefore, the company only pay you less than certified pay. Also, the pay for a degree or certified sub is less than the pay for a para!

Pros
Summer holidays and getting time to spend with kids on the weekend. If you are a parent, you get to spend school holidays with w family even though you might be burnout.
Cons
Micromanaging. You will be required to teach outside your field. For example, you are certified to teach mathematics, you might be asked to teach other courses you are not certified in like history, science, and art. Lots of duties ( watching the kids during breakfast and lunch) Getting to use the restroom is difficult because you are not allowed to leave students unattended and have no other staff to relieve you for you to use the restroom. Class size overload. You do not get a lunch break. You might be required to teach 7 or 8 different class period with a class size of 35 students per class.
