I have been working at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Pays well. Close to home.

    Cons

Limited scope of practice for Medical Assistants. Hours are not flexible.

    Advice to Management

More training and supervision of new employees is needed. Train everyone on everything, not just a select few, it creates an environment of favoritism.

I have been working at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Generous pay differential, liked the people I worked with

    Cons

Management has no idea what is going on when it comes to floor nursing and patient satisfaction. They don’t seem to care about floor nurses and only want to make sure the patients are happy. They expect nurses to do more and more with less resources. People are getting burnt out and leaving, turnover is extremely high.

    Advice to Management

Management keeps changing. Every day It seems like we have a new CEO. Listen to your nurses and other staff!

I worked at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center part-time

    Pros

Patient ratios were appropriate and fair compared to other hospitals I've worked where the average was 5:1 and could be 6:1. Day shift at this faculty was generally 4:1.

    Cons

Communication between physicians and nursing could be much better and interdisciplinary team. I also was not impressed by how daily reports were given and the time it took to get them (as a float nurse working on all inpatient units), this was a problem across the entire hospital.

    Advice to Management

Take some time observing/visiting other hospital systems (that uphold magnet status).
