I have been working at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have great benefits and time off. Coworkers are tight knit and fun to work with. Offer reimbursement for continuing education.

    Cons

Upper management not always easy to work with. Cafeteria food is just ok. Takes several years to be able to park on site.

    Advice to Management

Listen to those who actually do day to day work

  3. "It's a good place. I would love to say great but it still needs work. Collegues really do care."

    Pros

Every colleague tries to do their best from our maintenance dept., to our Drs., but while Insurances keep getting more demanding we are becoming an assembly line which is bad for our Patients. Not sure why but I really Love working here, but I've also been disappointed with it.

    Cons

Sad to say but if you don't have a degree but you have the experience they will go with the degree even if that colleague has proven himself/herself and has been with Lahey over 5 yrs. That colleague could be exceptional and they will still go with the degree, which is why they either leave or get discouraged. So when they say they hire within that is false. Communication is key but it seems to be a norm at Lahey no one communicates not sure if its the Lahey way or if Sups., or Upper Management are intimidated by those that really Care For Each Other including Patients and have Great ideas to better Lahey and change what has been broken for years. they know what is good for our Patients and Lahey.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your colleagues who are in the drentges they know what are the Patients needs and the colleagues needs. Upper Management have no clue until they work in our shoes...Ask us first before assuming what you really don't know. Let's keep Lahey as one of the BEST Hospitals to come too, if not we will lose what Lahey Colleagues have worked so hard for...Excellent care with Love and Compassion. If we have that the money will roll in...and I can get on that.

I have been working at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can learn a lot at Lahey, decent pay, easy to get to right off the highway

    Cons

Money over everything at this place. Chronically short-staffed. There never seems to be enough help, leading to unsafe patient loads, poor patient care, and low morale for employees.

    Advice to Management

Lahey is a victim of its own policies. Find a way to shorten the turnaround time between when a position is needed and when it gets filled, months is unacceptable. Listen to your employees who spend their days on the units, they have a better grasp on staffing needs than those sitting in offices.
