I have been working at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Good doctors to collaborate with.

    Cons

Feel like mid level providers not treated with respect.

    Advice to Management

Treat NP's and PA's as providers.

I worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Paid vacation time, payroll deduct, friends you can make. Not really much else I can say that's good about working here.

    Cons

Management is a joke, training is ridiculous and the programs they use are so outdated and not user friendly. Asking for help understanding anything or help doing something isn't anything I would recommend doing because it won't happen.

Parking for employees is ridiculous, having to park up to 4 blocks away and catch a shuttle driven by the security staff and wait for them to pick you up and bring you to work, good chance you will always be late for your shift.

Hospital looks old and run down no matter what they are doing to add to the building the older parts of it will never look good, very confusing place that's easy to get lost in.

    Advice to Management

Learn how to actually train your staff members and not leave new people left to do the training because your to busily being a social butterfly and handing your work off to other employees to do.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    PTO, Benefits, Cafeteria, Gift Shop

    Cons

Management is more like high school students than actual managers. They have all these service excellent courses but management fails to exhibit what they should have learned in these inservices. Management feels they could say and do what they want to employees without repercussions. Reporting to hr is a joke. If your boss doesn't want you to transfer to another department it will never happen, it's like a black hole.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified professionals to run this facility or the turnover rate will continue to rise. It's about quality!

    Pros

Staff was fiends. Patient load was disturbed fairly. Supveriosor was always close if needed. Food services were good.

    Cons

The commute was too far for me. I don't know if they have addresses this issue but parking was really bad. I got a ticket one day. Parking is limited.

    Advice to Management

Enjoyed my time there. New nurse orientation was nice to have.

I worked at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very knowledgable human resources dept. Goal oriented establishment with a lot of involvement from upper management. Growing company with a lot of great supervisors and managers in place.

    Cons

Lengthy hire-in process and two day orientation. One day is very helpful and other is very elementary feeling. Yearly raise based on performance is not always guaranteed

    Advice to Management

Performance based bonuses would be great incentive to employees. Compare pay rates to other local hospitals.
