- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
Some staff are great to work with.
Cons
Top leadership is in over their head. Hired a CEO that doesn't have healthcare leadership experience.
- Current Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Great co workers! Small town atmosphere makes for a nice comfort level. Great healthcare providers and approachable CEO cares about all employees. Fairly decent pay for a small hospital.
Cons
Many employees discouraged by the fact management is not willing to allow the flexibility of working from home options. Many quality employees are starting to look elsewhere to be able to have this option as most similar companies do offer this benefit. Management also ignores most of the employees except for a very short weekly meeting. Do not feel valued. Also could really use better benefits.

Pros
Working with patients on a daily basis.
Cons
A handful of directors and executive leadership lack professionalism and set a poor example for their front end employees. They may listen to opinions or concerns, but these are rarely communicated to superiors or acted upon. When employees look for support within internal resources (Directors, HR, CEO, Board of Directors) concerns are pushed aside and attention is focused on their own agendas. Lake Region Healthcare's vision is to be Minnesota's preeminent regional healthcare partner. This is an unattainable vision if leaders continue to focus on themselves rather than the greater good for the patients they are supposed to serve. Lake Region should reflect on the leadership team and identify if these individuals best represent the organization and it's mission. I would not recommend working for an organization who continues to promote and applaud leaders who refuse to contribute their best efforts toward a common vision to improve the health of the community.

Pros
Good salary for the area. Great dedicated coders! Flexible hours.
Cons
This department has really changed. Very low morale. Management no longer seem to care about the happiness or job satisfaction of the team. We each have different workloads as far as complexity and time needed to do a quality job. Some have less complex departments to code which is fine but yet ALL are expected to do the same number of charts per day if they would like the flexibility to work from home offices just a couple days a week. This is unrealistic and unfair. Those with less complicated workloads are able to produce higher numbers and are allowed to work from home. Those with departments with higher complexity, multiple procedures and research required are either forced to not put necessary time into their charts to raise numbers, or they can keep doing a high quality job and have to remain working in house every day. Coding a basic clinic visit and an occasional simple procedure takes much less time than complicated and often multiple procedures plus an office visit. We currently have no caring, understanding and rigidness by management as they do not look further than surface numbers and general statistics. Thus we have a very unhappy group with many skilled dedicated workers with years of experience who are actively looking for new opportunities elsewhere. Management has ignored concerns and has made snotty comments that have made employees feel undervalued and the job they do unimportant.
