I have been working at Lakeland Health part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Hands on orientation to help feel comfortable before working shifts alone Plenty of shifts available to work (PRN) Friendly coworkers and manager

    Cons

Frequently understaffed majority of the time (can have up to 10-11 patients as a NA) PRN float majority of the time PRN sits with patients majority of the time

    Advice to Management

Basic orienting to other units before floating would be extremely helpful.

I have been working at Lakeland Health part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The wages are in line with the National average, however as with most hospitals, the nursing staff is overworked. The burnout rate for nurses is about 2 years on average.

    Cons

The insurance is terrible, it's an insult to the health care workers. Being a hospital employee should grant you quality insurance at an affordable price. You are usually stuck with a 30 or 40 dollar copay, which is ridiculous when you consider we are over worked. I feel the hospital should reward it's employees for the hard work they put into their job. Having poor insurance is a slap in the face, it just reinforces the fact that we don't matter.
