I worked at Lakeland University part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great People, Family Atmosphere, Nice campus

    Cons

Not a place to be if you're a coach. The school has no sense of what it takes to build and run successful athletic programs (Not an athletic minded school). No money for assistant coaches (I was deemed part time but worked every bit of 50 plus hours a week for years and was told I'd never receive any type of financial help.)

I worked at Lakeland University part-time (Less than a year)

      Pros

      Lovely, new facilities. Convenient location.

      Cons

Adjunct, 1 & done. Never asked to teach again, although recommendation from campus director and positive outcome of class.

      Advice to Management

Professionals are not disposable, neither are people, in general. It's about relationships. We realize you might get in a bind without an instructor for a particular course, but it's about relationships. Otherwise, word will spread, and no one will be willing to devote the time and attention for 1 and done. Good luck with that one!!! How's that workin' for ya?

I worked at Lakeland University (Less than a year)

        Pros

co-workers, grounds are pretty, history of the school is interesting, benefits standard, nice woods to walk through during summer, spring and fall.

        Cons

High turnover, business department run horribly by COO, very difficult drive in during bad winter weather, not enough parking spaces for all employees so you have to sometimes park on the other side of the university and walk across the entire campus, low moral due to management in some cases and stress is high

        Advice to Management

Re-organize responsibilities and put somebody in charge with people skills instead of number skills. Treat your subordinates with respect and it might be a better place to work.
