I have been working at Lancaster General Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Focused on the patient experience as well as the employee. Forward thinking, always improving and makes sound decisions for financial stability.

    Cons

If looking for maximum clinical opportunities, LGH doesn’t have a surgical NICU or transplant program. And has only 2 physician residencies: Family Health and Trauma

I worked at Lancaster General Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Excellent benefits and structure to the heath system. Focus on patient care and employee engagement.

    Cons

Difficult to advance into other positions (a lot of talking among managers and directors/cliques, even in senior leadership). Also, roles that are easily remote were always denied.

I have been working at Lancaster General Health full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

No layoffs during pandemic - although I would have thourghly enjoyed 26 weeks of unemployment + $600 fed subsidy even if I would have been netting a little less after paying for med ins premiums. I saved for a rainy day unlike some.

    Cons

Mgt much rather dump money into a dubious PROTON THERAPY machine that has extremely limited value. I thought the cyber knife therapy project was bad ( Used very little) this 100 mill project eclipse that boondoggle. At lest they got rid of the Gamma Knife Therapy Machine (used rarely) recently to install a way more useful Radiation therapy machine that will get used regularly.

I worked at Lancaster General Health full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I learned a lot about healthcare but it came at a high price. The benefits are okay but not great. Working there was like having a long internship with the negatives and positives that come with that.

    Cons

The toxic, nepotistic, and archaic culture that exists here stifles any true innovation or ingenuity and stands in the way of forwarding progress. The compensation here is not in alignment with national or local pay scales. Most employees are grossly underpaid for their hard work. There is no career latter or upward movement afforded to those that don't have personal (e.g., friends or family) connections at this organzation. Zero work life balance.

I worked at Lancaster General Health full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Benefits are ok (not great)

    Cons

They provide the illusion that it's a good place to work, but withhold how downright false that is being that people are constantly overworked. Not only that, but they write you up even when you become overworked claiming you aren't meeting expectations. Good luck keeping people there! HR is worthless, careless, and lazy. Human Resources seems like a fake industry with people who intervene where necessary, but really do not attempt to mediate anything.
