I worked at Landair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Have some good people there.
Seem to care about growing just not sure how.
Pay was ok but nothing great.

    Cons

When I was there had terrible managers and vp's that had bitten off more than they could chew.
Too much of the "old buddy" system there.
Will not listen to employees when they have a suggestion.
    Managers have God complex.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who do the work. Not as dumb as you think.

I have been working at Landair full-time

    Pros

Consistent work and working hours. 401K match, insurance is a bit pricey but has good coverage. Working dedicated is nice since you know your customers well. Driver managers are great except one who handles local and his approach to handling work flow.

    Cons

Pay and safety bonus not all that great - Standard. Company is growing and the micromanaging is getting worse. The equipment is the cheapest stuff out there, expect break-downs and frustration with the job almost weekly. Pay is not adjusted to experience or time with the company. Everyone is paid the same regardless of experience or safety over the years.
Corporate said we would get raises as they've been worked into the contracts. We did not get our raises this past year. Insurance went up so we took a pay-cut!

    Advice to Management

Keep the favoritism to a minimum as it can been seen pretty easily. Work with Corp. to get drivers better incentives or extra pay when extra work is asked of us. Pay should be adjusted to experience and safety as an incentive and reward for a persons dedication to the company.

I have been working at Landair full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great rates, home every weekend or every other weekend , good equipments, really good load planning so far. Good dispatch and plenty of miles.

    Cons

Heavy loads 90% ( 79,000 lb )of the time, a lot of live load and unload . if you choose home every weekend you will lose some of your pay check.

    Advice to Management

    I think you're doing well.

I worked at Landair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent starting pay. Plenty of jobs to cross-train into. Co workers are very helpful.

    Cons

No pay increases for cross training in other jobs. No reward or incentive to go above and beyond like the website says. The two Supervisors in the stockroom are not qualified for their positions and management does not care! The good ones will be worked to death with no extra pay for their efforts except the joke of an annual increase and the deadbeats will get the same increase for doing nothing.

    Advice to Management

Stop pretending to care about what happens and actually listen to the people who make things run so smoothly! Get rid of the dead weight in your Supervisors in the stockroom. Change the culture or you will continue to lose the good ones. Stop paying lip service on the website and put it into action!
