I worked at Landmark Hospitals (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Great experience with a wide variety of patients
    -Great experience with acute patients
-You will learn what to do in a code
-You will learn how to identify septic patients
-You will be an A+ butt wiper and bed changer

    Cons

-Your patients will be very acute
-You will be given more acute patients than is safe
-You will be paid poorly for your position compared to other hospitals in the area and even more poorly for the amount of work you put in
-You will be lied to about the number of patients you will have
-There will not be enough equipment for your patients
-You will work with great nurses and techs but also incredibly lazy nurses and techs

    Advice to Management

Pay the staff better, accurately determine the acuity of each patient, and change the staffing grid

I have been working at Landmark Hospitals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Landmark pays nurses well, starting around 30$/hr. Some make mid 30's. Floor staff very helpful and good work environment. When census is high, they allow a lot of overtime. Nurses get to use many skills, including IV's, blood draws, feeding tube placements, wound vacs/wound care, art lines, ACLS, etc.

    Cons

Health insurance is expensive. Cheapest family plan around $800/month. They don't match anything on 401K. Small hospital size means when the census is low they call a lot of people off.

    Advice to Management

    Don't hire LPN's.

I worked at Landmark Hospitals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Clean and new environment. Good location for an LTAC as not any other competing facilities that offer long term acute care.

    Cons

Nurses are poorly treated. Under staffed. Nurses have too many patients. High turnover of staff especially nursing. Poor and inexperienced nursing management. Maintenance slow to respond to problems.

    Advice to Management

Important to have nursing management that is in tune with what goes on on the floor and supports their nurses.
