I worked at Landry's Bicycles full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Landry's does so much more for its employees than most bike shops: It provides them with an opportunity to grow within Landry's, as well as arm them with skills that apply to a career at Landry's or elsewhere. Company culture is strong, and management believes in even its newest employees.

It's rare for a bike shop to make it so possible for its employees to make a career out of the bicycle industry. Landry's gives its employees this opportunity, and does it well.

    Cons

There will be many long, intense days during the peak of the cycling season. Expect to juggle multiple customers at a time, and be evaluated based on your sales numbers. Working a Saturday or Sunday can be a very hard day.

    Advice to Management

The sales content of training can come off a bit strong. Meetings sometimes felt a bit difficult, especially if sales goals were not met.

I worked at Landry's Bicycles part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Weekends off, Early work hours, opportunities

    Cons

Work environment, Benefits, Personal growth, work atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Work on professionalism in the back bay storage areas out of ear shot of customers.

  3. "Fantastic staff, generally fun work but management can be forgetful of scheduling."

I worked at Landry's Bicycles part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic team of individuals who genuinely care about the company's service.

    Cons

Management can be on and off in terms of scheduling. I was often scheduled to work despite deliberately telling the manager I won't be available on those days. Pay for a part time worker is not as competitive with other shops.

I worked at Landry's Bicycles part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are amazing and the benefits are good

    Cons

It's very difficult to move up. Sale floor faces rollover completely every few years.

    Advice to Management

The Henry's are great, and I left before some restructuring took place. But I'm worried about who will run the company once Peter & Tom is gone. The co-op is a good ownership transition, but who will actually run the company still remains up in the air.

    Pros

Landry's gives its employees a supportive environment, good pay, excellent benefits and the opportunity to make an impact on the company as a whole.

    Cons

Because of the positive environment, there is little turnover and as a result it is difficult to move forward within the company.

    Advice to Management

Landry's should make it a point to keep its emphasis on quality customer experiences and high respect for its employees. It's a business model that works.
