    Toxic Culture, Zero work-life balance

Oct 16, 2022 - Food & Beverage Supervisor in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Discounts at all restaurants and properties.

    Cons

Working at one of their hotel properties, the GM goes out to get drunk and comes back and really rails on everyone. There is no vetting process for anyone who is hired. They will hire anyone, no standards, no structure, and they do not care how they treat you - they expect you to continue to show up. NO HR ONSITE. Zero accountability. The top executives tip less than 10% and expect hourly employees to stay well beyond closing time to carter to their needs who zero appreciation or emotional intelligence towards the ones who are actually working/running the properties.

Good for a Stepping Stone Job, If Nothing Else

    Sep 30, 2022 - Staff Accountant
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    • Stable job and industry • Cafeteria and gym were convenient • Employee discounts (even though you had to pay in) • Diverse exposure to several different accounting functions

    Cons

    • Dingy office space with depressing work culture • Barely passable employee benefits (Not PTO or sick/personal time for 6 months, once you do, it’s not very much) with terrible insurance options • No WFH options - M-F in office from 9-6pm with a 1 hr lunch break. If you’re sick or have to leave for something, you have to take an unpaid half day of work. • “Sink or Swim” training. They train you the first month but any attempts at getting help afterwards is like pulling teeth from management. • Intense month-end close periods. You’re immediately given a dozen restaurants and are just expected to know all the GM’s questions. It gets very stressful at times as a lot of them are not very friendly.

    Good college job

Nov 18, 2022 - Server in College Station, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Good work system and training system. Decent pay for all positions except for servers due to tips.

    Cons

Bad pay for servers. Tips eat up all paychecks so if tips aren't good you don't have a paycheck to make up for it.

It was a company with great benefits

    Aug 31, 2022 - Assistant General Manager
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The location I managed had a very family friendly management style. Family first.

    Cons

However, the women launch marketing team members weren't the most honest. They would take the ideas or observations of others and swing them as if they were their own. I really liked the top management team, but wasn't really into the female caddyness.
