    Degrading and exploitative

Jun 7, 2013 - Server in Bridgewater, NJ

    Pros

Room for advancement is better than most restaurants.

    Cons

You'd have to advance in the Landry's corporate structure which prides itself on ruthless cost cutting at the expense of their employees and product quality.

    Pros

The employment opportunity at Landry's Restaurants, Inc will provide you with unlimited growth potential. If you are willing to work hard, ask questions, show a desire to move up the latter and through the fast paced environment you will be able to make it anywhere.

    Cons

Corporate employees are not treated as if they provide a service. They help the restaurants provide a service to the guest. Massive work load and very long work days.

Charlys Crab, Palm Beach - Such a shame

    Pros

This is a hard one, I don't see any good reason for wowrking at this establishment. The money can be good if the are so busy they have to give you tables, otherwise you just stand around and watch the career servers make all the money. Paychecks come on-time but even if you sign up for direct deposit they don't set it up for you. The employee discounts on all Landry's Restaurants is a nice benefit if you dont mind that they pretty much serve the same menu at all thier restaurants.

    Cons

Well to start there is no leadership in the restaurant, management simply manages and with Charly's in particular, you have never done a good job, always getting scorned for this and that. If you haven't been there three years your aren't going to get a table until the people who have been there three years have made all the money they want to and are cut. This is a known fact and management there has even admitted that they let you make however much money they want you to make and thats it. The training program at this property is a mess, each day of training is with a different so-called trainer who tells you the same things they told you the day before; missing out on importaint information almost as if setup to try an get you to fail so you don't get on lthe floor. There is far to much bickering going on between the staff, employees are very unhappy with the way things are run and the way the employees are treated by management and by the "career servers". Corpoarte is always breathing down managements back about the PSS system when infact it doesnt work, no two tables are alike and in me experience when people come out to dine they want a personable, personal server making thier experience unique and excelent; not some robtic crap script that some guy in an office thought up wh has probably never waited a table in his life. Management only schedules people for on-call shifts (and never have too work them) which inhibits anyone's ability to be free for a second job which is required to live when being paid less than 100$ a week, lets let them live off 100$ a week and have to be on call all week never actually having to come in for the on-calls. See how hard it is to pay your bills with 100$ a week.

    Good company

Jul 22, 2008 - Accounting Assistant in Houston, TX

    Pros

Landry's offers its employees many benefits at corporate. Employees are given a week of vacation after only 6 months of employment, and offers health care at a reasonable rate, 50% discount at most of its restaurants like Saltgrass (mmm good) Landry's, Babins, 25% at its signature restaurants like Grotto, La Griglia, Willie G's, Pesce, Brenner's, and Vic and Anthony's , and an onsite gym. Office holiday parties were also a great addition to the job.

    Cons

Movement up in the company is slow, and can be a challenge if you don't speak up to your supervisors about interests of doing so. Pay wasn't so great at least for the position I held.

Bearable for a short term job, but would not recommend long term

    Pros

50% off of meals at any Landry's concept.. IF you pay the 18 dollars a month to pay for the privilege; popular name recognition of restaurants so generally pretty busy.

    Cons

Management seemed ridden pretty hard by the upper level management which trickled down to the employees. They seemed to expect million dollar results for paying managers low salaries and making them micromanage everything in the restaurant that probably results in high burn outs. In my personal opinion, the company seem okay with maximizing profits at the expense of the lower ranked employees and food they serve. I did not get the sense that the company cared at all about the well-being of the employees or ways to incentivize selling Landry's select cards or merchandise.

    Pros

great restaurants/hotels/casinos you can pay to have discounts to. Well worth it. Lot's of networking people all over as the LDRY brand is nation wide. casual dress, easy corporate office location.

    Cons

Don not pay enough, my department had no office culture. it was work hard and that was it. Was told I was going to make more and then was not given any room to grow.

    A Corporation Fueled by Greed

    Pros

Coworkers/managers are kind & hardworking people, the discount program is okay for if/when you want to dine at another Landry’s property.

    Cons

Paying money to eat family meal? I’ve never experienced that in other restaurant jobs, it’s tacky. Also, the upper management will see a hardworking employee and take advantage of their work ethic until they’ve drained them of all energy and joy. There is little to no appreciation for hourly employees and the hourly pay is less than competitive in comparison to other upscale restaurants in the area. Also - hourly employees are required to be free on all major holidays but there is NO holiday pay, bonuses, etc. for working through the holiday season (which is grueling).
