    Meh.

    Pros

Fairly stable, large company although I'm not sure how badly COVID will impact this. Pay was average. Insurance was ok. CEO seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

    Cons

No room for advancement. Upper management is out of touch with the day to day work being done in their department. Favoritism is obvious. Work schedule is 8-5 (unpaid lunch) for salaried employees.

    Pros

Good location if you like the country living. Company try's to be relevant

    Cons

Company try's and try's but gets no where as far as growth. Huge blame game as upper management try to save their jobs.

    Pros

The brand is very well recognized and is very good quality. The Lands End mission and dedication to customer service is really easy to become a part of.

    Cons

Not a lot of communication between retail stores and upper management. There seems to be a disconnect between the two and it would be extremely beneficial for the input of the retail stores to reach upper management.

    Pros

flexible work schedule. occasionally able to work from home. decent sized campus

    Cons

worked there for 5 years as a contract employee when out of the blue, the contract was ended. Upper management was allowed to treat everyone crap. Not a friendly place work.

    Mostly good

Aug 13, 2016 - Senior Systems Administrative in Dodgeville, WI

    Pros

Many of the people are like extended family. The Comer Center - free on-site gym is a nice benefit. Onsite clinic also very nice to have. How enjoyable it is to work at Lands' End can depend on what department you join, what group of people. Some are welcoming and supportive; some are less so. (Probably true anywhere.) Company is willing to promote people into new/different positions when there is a fit or near-fit, allowing career growth. Benefits are decent, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, 401K partial match, various misc discounts.

    Cons

No bonuses to speak of for several years. There are no cost of living raises for salaried folks, but 'merit' raises, which are therefore not evenly distributed and don't always keep up with cost of living. Promotions and corresponding raises more often go to those who live in the Madison area as they are more likely to leave for a shorter drive or better paying position. Those who live nearby or are long-term employees seem to be taken for granted by upper management. Tuition assistance was discontinued several years ago.

    Manager

    Pros

I loved working for Lands' End. The people are professional but personable. Upper management looks to promote from within, and they are always grooming staff for advancement. Also, Lands' End provides superior customer service, and the home office and call center (because it is an online and catalog business as well) were very supportive in anything I needed at a store level to satisfy my customers. I learned a lot about retail and visual merchandising working for Lands' End, and I absolutely love the brand, so of course that contributed to the pride I took in my job there.

    Cons

Due to Lands' End's association with Sears there were a lot of dotted lines in who I reported to, as well as corporate disagreements that trickled down to the store level and effected my staff's and my job.

Mid Tier, Outside/Field, National Account Sales Reps, BEWARE!!!

Mar 22, 2018 - Outside Sales Account Executive

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Remote position flexibility, sample clothes. 50% Employee discount of clothing for you and your family (great if you have growing kids).

    Cons

Mid Tier, Outside/Field, National Account Sales Reps BEWARE!!! This role may sound appealing, however is treated less than an entry level B2B sales role with little to no commissions ever seen. Upper management is all about old school and unattainable metrics with dials and cold calls. Inside sales (aka everyone in Dodgeville, WI) on EVERY level will get ALL of the revenue after your efforts and long sales cycles are complete, leaving you (the “hunter”) empty handed. Apparel and mentality of this organization is an outdated patriarchy, with zero updated real world sales tools, technology and/or leadership. The warm friendly feel of an old fashion “wholesome” company is an intricate smoke and mirrors routine, at best!

    Creative people, bad management.

Jul 7, 2012 - Associate Designer in Dodgeville, WI
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Opportunity to grow in Canvas environment, as things are still being defined for the brand. Creative people in work environment.

    Cons

Having creative, talented people who are unable to update the aesthetic of the brand as well as changing any types of processes to facilitate efficiency. Driving two hours a day from the small city of Madison to the remote town of Dodgeville. Poor upper management that is unqualified and does not harvest growth in their departments. No investment in individual growth or incentives to strive harder to make the brand more relevant. Office is outdated and not conducive for creative thinking. Food is sub par in cafeteria- not many restaurants to dine at besides fast food.
