I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay is decent but I heard otherwise. Hopefully it will stay this way. I like the fact that I am able to work from home.

    Cons

I heard eventually everyone will switch to a new system and start doing video interpreting, which I may not enjoy. My major complaint is that some of the calls have very bad connection which makes it hard for me to hear and interpret.

    Advice to Management

During the hiring process, everyone was very cordial and attentive, but afterwards management is less attentive after getting on board.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    1. Work at home.
    2. Have the freedom to select the days of the week and the hours of the day as my working schedule.
    3. Great job satisfaction as appreciation from clients often becomes the most pleasant reward, and that happens in over 80% of the calls.
    4. Being a Medical Specialized Interpreter, the knowledge captured through work has been exciting challenges and most important has helped to improve my own health conditions.
    5. Able to earn a reasonable amount of pocket money as a retiree, because I only work two days of the week.

    Cons

I guess this issue could happen in all industries where most staffs who are not working in a centralized office setting, communication with the management and between co-workers can often be a major concern.

    Advice to Management

There are many available approaches for internal communication improvements, but I suggest that the initial and immediate step would be compilation of a staff Handbook with periodical updates.

I worked at LanguageLine Solutions (Less than a year)

    Pros

The management is just great. At first I was little scared to dive into a completely new realm of telephone interpretation, but they supported me all the way through and taught how to become great at what I did. Just awesome.

    Cons

It was a little hard to get through back to back calls for eight hours everyday. It was worth it though.

    Advice to Management

You're great. Keep up the good work. You offer a lot of flexibility for your employees. Great job!

    Pros

It is a great company to work for because of the flexibility, the convenience of working from home, and they know how to treat their employees with respect and dignity.

    Cons

There is really no cons for me with the exception I am not money of gas and do not have to deal with congested traffic which is wonderful.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management to value your employees as you would want me to value.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Able to work from home. Rewarding career by helping out with the communication gap between client and limited English-speaking customer. Great flexibility.

    Cons

No benefits. No room for advancement. Hard to get a hold of someone when you have a question.

    Advice to Management

No real advice to be given. You don't really have management to answer to. Most communication are with the recruiter only.

I have been working at LanguageLine Solutions part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Love helping others breach the communication gap and working from home. Getting paid for what you love, can't get any better.

    Cons

Pay rate varies from state to state. I don't feel this is fair since we are doing the same job, pay should be based on the Skills not the state you live in. The merge with other companies and migration to a new platform has caused some technical problems. Work at Home interpreters should also have benefits: Paid sick time, Paid vacations, after all we incur in expenses to have a home office space suitable for our job and this is at NO cost to LLC.

    Advice to Management

Adjust pay rate to meet the skill: level and experience. Your Interpreters are the source of income for ALL.
