    Pros

I learnt so much from the first job I ever had. Not the things that would help me advance in my career directly, but it helped in clearing my mind up. It made me strong and aware of the realities of various kinds of people we could come across.
However, since this question asks something different, I shall answer it by saying NO,it is not a stimulating experience.

    Cons

the job is not worth it. I worked for 12 months as a GET in three different sites. The first site was where I had good seniors and managers. I did learn a few basic things but nothing that would enable me to advance in my career. It was a job which could be performed by anyone.

When I was transferred to my second site, I realized how thankless and demeaning the job that I performed with full capabilities actually was. There were days when I was shouted upon for doing the 'right' thing. There were days when I would end up with torn and dirty trousers. I also suffered for a week from welder's flash.

I couldn't take it anymore and I thought that taking a transfer to a better site would change things. However, my experience at the third site also wasn't any better. One day, i was asked to work with a team overnight and when the Project Manager left, the team vanished and there was nobody left. I ended up waiting for an hour and then arranging my own transport to travel home ( which was 30 kms from the site). It was raining heavily and I reached home with a tired and dejected mind. I also reached a point where I fell from a small height(ENTIRELY MY FAULT) and ended up twisting my ankle. I had suffered from ligament tears earlier in college and after this incident, there was a noticeable swelling in my ankle again. I had to take a sick leave for three weeks and upon my return, I was shouted at and asked, " Why do they hire engineers like you? What disease do you have ? "

    Advice to Management

    think about employees
