I have been working at Las Vegas Sands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits 100% paid which is nice. Discounts to shops and restaurants within casinos. The pay is on the higher side compared to other resorts in Las Vegas.

    Cons

Management is wishy washy and unstable. You will never get promoted within unless you know personally a higher up/director. There is little to no movement or growth opportunity. Brings in lots of contractors then releases so there too many different hands with no consistency. Overall I would say very poorly managed from top down.

    Advice to Management

Reward, listen to and acknowledge your staff. Step out of your office to have a conversation. Don't be two-faced between one-on-ones and team meetings. Reply to emails and be available. Encourage hiring qualified staff not just a body to fill a space or req,

I have been working at Las Vegas Sands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Cool job, great experience, free food, pay is decent, benefit package very reasonably priced.

    Cons

Heavy smoke can cause congestion often, floor supervisors all have different standards which can be confusing & make you feel like an idiot because what one tells you to do another will flip out over & the floor is different each shift & during their break relief! The 20 minute break every hour twenty minutes isn't really 20 minutes & not really a true down time which as fun as job can be you need to walk away, sit down, regroup properly. Schedules fluctuate anywhere from 1-2 hours before or after your regular shift throughout week, getting a shift that works for you may or may not happen need more scheduling flexibility.

    Advice to Management

Some things get better with time, example check cutting, be more patient learning to use both hands is a new skill & some people pick it up faster than others. Where one person has a strength another naturally has a weakness, but putting them on the spot in front of folks isn't the answer, and requiring training room during a break isn't cool. Spending my 15-16 minutes still working isn't going to miraculously fix things tat 8: hours can't. Also, knowing what games we'll have at least two days ahead for the week would give is a chance to train or brush up on games we hadn't had in awhile or aren't up to par with. We look unprofessional fumbling with a new game we only had a few minutes to observe real quick. We are only human, when you don't do something everyday the knowledge grows faint. Example of we knew we would have Texas Holdem on Tuesday and it's Friday or Saturday we could utilize the training room, we could work on it at home, read up on it, watch videos or whatever do on Tuesday we can ease right into it. It'll make everyone look better & be less stressed.
